🔍 Ever wondered if a Product Manager in the B2C world wears the same hat as one in Enterprise? Spoiler: It's more like switching between a baseball cap and a fedora. 🎩⚾ In the realm of B2C, it's all about catching the consumer's eye. Think speed dating but with products - first impressions count, and you've got seconds to charm. 🚀💖 Enter the Enterprise zone, and it's less of a sprint and more of a marathon with stakeholders. Here, we're crafting tailored suits, ensuring every stitch aligns with complex business needs. 📊🤝 But whether it's the flash of a consumer's smile or the nod of a CEO, the core of product management stays the same: Solve real problems, make lives easier, and keep iterating until you get it right. ✨🔄 So, let's tip our hats to the PMs navigating these distinct terrains. Because at the end of the day, it's not about the hat you wear; it's about the journey you navigate. 🌐🧭 Lastly, which 'hat' do you find yourself wearing most often in your product management journey, and what lessons have you learned along the way? #ProductManagement #B2CvsEnterprise #NavigatingTerrains

Great depiction of the difference between B2B and B2C product management. While the overarching goal of delivering value remains consistent across both, the approach and expectations must be tailored to each market. What works in one may not necessarily translate to success in the other.

How Product Managers Are Revolutionizing the Supply Chain Industry When you think of supply chains, what comes to mind? Massive networks of warehouses, trucks on highways, or perhaps the digital tools powering global commerce? Behind the scenes, it’s Product Management that’s transforming the supply chain from a traditional function into a powerhouse of innovation and resilience. Here’s why Product Managers are indispensable in this space: 🚚 Solving Real-World Problems with Impact Every decision a supply chain product manager makes—whether it’s optimizing delivery routes or developing AI-powered demand forecasting—creates tangible ripple effects. A 1% improvement in efficiency can mean millions saved or faster delivery times for customers. 📊 Turning Data Into Strategy Supply chains generate a wealth of data: shipping times, inventory levels, customer demand, and beyond. Product Managers unlock this data’s potential, crafting tools that help businesses make smarter, faster decisions while mitigating risks. 🌍 Sustainability and the Future of Logistics Today’s supply chains face a dual mandate: deliver value and reduce environmental impact. Product Managers are leading the charge by designing systems that cut emissions, reduce waste, and pave the way for sustainable operations. 🤝 Collaboration at Scale It takes a village to build a great product. Product Managers bring together engineers, operations teams, and external stakeholders to design solutions that work for everyone in the chain—from factory floors to end customers. Supply chains are no longer just about moving goods; they’re about creating competitive advantages, delivering customer delight, and building resilience in an unpredictable world. And Product Managers are the architects of this transformation. If you’re in product management, think about this: How can your skills and tools reshape industries that depend on supply chain excellence? Let’s collaborate, share insights, and push the boundaries of what’s possible in this dynamic space. Drop your thoughts below—I’d love to hear how you’re innovating in supply chain or other industries! #ProductManagement #PM #ProductManager #PMLife #Product #PeopleInProductManagement #PMCommunity #ProductCommunity #ProductManagerCommunity #PeopleInPM #ProductLife #ProductManagerLife #ProductManagementCommunity #PeopleInProduct #SupplyChainInnovation #Sustainability #Leadership #TechDriven

Product Manager (PdM) ≠ Program Manager(PgM) (Technical) here is how. 1// Main focus +PdM: What to build and why (vision, user experience, market fit). >PgM: How to build it and when (execution, timeline, budget, resources). 2// Key responsibilities +PdM: Defines product roadmap, prioritizes features, conducts market research, and collaborates with stakeholders. >PgM: Oversees project execution, manages dependencies, mitigates risks, ensures deliverables meet requirements. 3// Provess +PdM: Product strategy, market research, prioritisation, communication, data analysis. >PgM: Project management, communication, leadership, problem-solving, technical knowledge. 4// Technical Depth +PdM: Needs a general understanding of technology in relation to the product, but doesn't necessarily need hands-on coding experience. >PgM: May have deeper technical expertise and may even contribute to technical tasks depending on the project. 5// Team Interaction +PdM: Works closely with cross-functional teams (design, engineering, marketing) to define and refine the product vision. >PgM: Works primarily with engineering teams to ensure project execution aligns with the product roadmap. 6// Stakeholder Interaction +PdM: Interacts closely with customers, ensuring the product meets their needs and expectations. >PgM: Engages with various internal stakeholders, aligning efforts across different departments. 7// Risk Management +PdM: Focuses on risks related to the product's success, such as market competition and user adoption. >PgM: Manages risks associated with the overall success of programs, including interdependencies and resource constraints. 8// Metrics & KPIs +TdM: Measures success through product-specific metrics, like user engagement or revenue growth. >PgM: Measures success through program-level metrics, such as overall program efficiency and alignment with organizational objectives. 9// Role in Innovation +PdM: Drives innovation within the product, exploring new features and improvements. >PgM: Ensures that innovation aligns with broader organizational strategies, coordinating efforts to achieve innovation goals. Over the years our roles evolve, but one question I continue to get asked what's better - Product lifecycle management or go-to-market (GTM) strategy? I choose both. Good companies see the value in both roles they work in parallel to manage the product develop and lifecycle needs vs. GTMs ability bring the product to the right market with a sales strategy that meets commercial revenue needs.

The financial sector, particularly banks and credit card companies, now has more product managers on their payroll. Ongoing digital transformation of store retailers such as Walmart and Home Depot invariably led to larger product management groups. These hiring trends will increase in 2024 with traditional companies investing and becoming more proficient in product management. Manufacturers and service providers have a less technical and more commercial and operational view of product management that differs from the way product management is applied at technology companies. Manufacturers and service providers will likely not adopt product management practices used by technology companies. ⚋⚋⚋⚋⚋⚋⚋⚋⚋⚋ 👉 Read more at https://lnkd.in/dessHYfW #pmtk #methodology #productmanagement ◌ Blackblot - Product Management Expertise™ is the developer of the PMTK® methodology and the premier provider of private training, certification, tools, and expert services for market leaders and innovators worldwide. ◌
