💪 Functional Anatomy 101: Vastus Medialis (VMO) 💪 The vastus medialis, part of the quadriceps muscle group, is located on the front of the thigh. It's the innermost quad muscle and runs the entire length of the thigh. This muscle is crucial for extending the leg at the knee and stabilizing the patella (kneecap). Often a weak spot, the VMO requires regular full leg extension to become strong. Traditional exercises like knee extensions, leg presses, and squats target this muscle but can fall short for those with knee pain or weakness. For a more functional approach, try single-leg step downs and single-leg deadlifts. These exercises offer greater benefits and can help strengthen the VMO more effectively. Hope this helps! 💪✨ #FunctionalAnatomy #VastusMedialis #VMO #LegDay #KneeStability #QuadStrength #FitnessTips #FunctionalTraining #StrengthTraining #HealthyKnees

Anterior Oblique Subsystem The Anterior Oblique Subsystem (AOS) is a concept in human anatomy and biomechanics. It refers to a network of muscles and connective tissues that work together to provide stability and support to the body, particularly in movements involving rotation and stabilization of the torso. The primary muscles involved in the AOS include the internal oblique, external oblique, and adductor muscles of the hip. This subsystem plays a crucial role in maintaining proper alignment and function during various physical activities. FUNCTION It has Concentric,Isometric and Eccentric Function. The muscles that comprise the AOS are the global movers of the anterior trunk and the adductors. This subsystem plays a significant role in stabilizing the thoracic and lumbar spine, sacroiliac joint (SIJ), pubic symphysis, and hip, as well as transferring force between lower and upper extremities. The AOS plays an active role in all pushing and rotational movement patterns (especially turning in), multi-segmental flexion, and eccentrically decelerating spinal extension and rotation, as well as hip extension, abduction, and external rotation. #snsinstitutions #snsdesignthinkers #designthinking

𝒮𝑜𝒻𝓉 𝓉𝑜𝓊𝒸𝒽, 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁. One of the aspects of ultrasonic rhinoplasty I like is that you can create these feather changes to the nose that can make a bridge as exacting as possible. More so than with the harsher techniques like chisels, you can see how the ultrasonic approach impacts her results and creates a natural look. And yet, it’s all power. The soft touch of ultrasound is one of the many techniques I used to make her nose look straighter and perform better. #plasticsurgery #rhinoplasty

A great approach to testing multifidi function! Using a ‘make test’ is an effective way to assess both motor control and muscle activation.
In this video, Robert Shapiro PT DPT COMT, demonstrates how to properly assess the Multifidi Muscles at different levels. The video is part of the Technique Peek Series, a series of short videos that provide a quick look at common orthopedic and sports medicine procedures. #techniquepeekseries #lowbackpain #multifidus #evaluation #assessment #education #physiotherapy #physicaltherapy #lowbackpainrelief #lumbarspine

The Psoas Muscle: Essential for Mobility and Stability. The psoas muscle, connecting the lower spine to the upper thigh, plays a key role in core stability, posture, and hip movement. Understanding its articulation and function is vital for optimizing physical performance and preventing injury. #Anatomy #MusculoskeletalHealth #PhysicalWellness

When performing lat pulldowns, your body position significantly affects how the latissimus dorsi (your lats) is engaged. 🔑 Anatomy Breakdown: The latissimus dorsi functions primarily to extend, adduct, and medially rotate the shoulder joint. It also assists in scapular depression and stabilizing the spine during movement. ➡️ Staying Upright: Keeping your torso completely upright during the movement emphasizes shoulder adduction, engaging more of the upper back muscles like the teres major, trapezius, and rhomboids, with reduced contribution from the lats. ➡️ Leaning Back Slightly: By leaning your torso back, you incorporate shoulder extension, which maximizes the activation of the latissimus dorsi. This technique also allows a greater stretch at the top of the movement and a stronger contraction at the bottom, targeting the lower and mid-lats more effectively. Time to grow your last the right way! 💪 For more muscle building tips follow Lars Langen #latpulldowns #latpulldown #backday #pullday #backworkout #backtraining #pullworkout #pulltraining #latissiumus #latissimusdorsi
