Instagram’s new algorithm update is a GAME CHANGER. Let’s break down the winners & losers: Creators rejoice, if the algorithm works as described, your content is about to pop off👏 🚀 More reach on your content via recommendations, as re-posts will get replaced with your original 🏷️ ‘Labels’ on re-posted content will give you proper credit & actually drive users back to your original video 🚫 Repeat offenders will get algorithmically blacklisted (10x reposts in 30 days) 📈Original content becomes more valuable- brands can’t recycle content & will likely have to pay a premium for original content that only they own 💰 Monetize more effectively as all of your content’s engagement and reach will be attributed to your account rather than across multiple channels - a great position to be in when talking to brands ✅ overall this is great news for creators - more reach, proper credit for your work, and prevents others from building audience and engagement from your content On the flip side: Are aggregators done for? No. But look, it’s a clear indication that any business creating/sourcing content on IG needs to: ⬆️ Double-down on their original output - creators needn’t be the only winners here, anyone making original content wins 🎯 Target their existing audience. The algorithm change doesn’t impact how content is viewed by followers. This means those who have an existing audience can still reach them, so build your strategy with that in mind 📦 Consider packaging more carefully- expect to see aggregators lean into creative solutions in their posts such as adding voiceover, script, re-edits, etc to try and avoid detection. Instagram have confirmed that if you make “significant” changes you won’t be impacted 🎞️ Expand IG strategy beyond Reels - as of now the algo change is only for Reels, meaning other formats are unaffected. That said, don’t bank on this being the case forever 👎 It does means building an aggregator page from scratch will be extremely difficult, though not impossible. End of an era? Quite possibly My key takeaway? 👑 Content is once again king. Make amazing content and you will be rewarded. Why? You don’t need a huge follower base to break through, as follower count no longer plays as pivotal a role in ranking. Instead, content will be served to a small audience, and be pushed further based on how well it does. This means reach is determined more than ever by the strength of the content and how well it engages people. What do you make of the change? Have IG done enough to protect creators and original content? #socialmedia #instagram #content #strategy #algorithm #socialstrategy

Instagram to let users reset recommendation algorithm, curb outdated content - New Reset Feature: Instagram is testing a "reset recommendations" feature to help users refresh their Explore, home feed, and Reels content. - How It Works: Resetting clears current preferences, allowing the algorithm to relearn based on new interactions and engagements. - Review Following List: Users can also review and unfollow accounts providing unwanted content when resetting recommendations. - Usage Frequency: Instagram head Adam Mosseri clarified the feature is for occasional use, not frequent resets. - Complementary Tools: This feature joins existing tools like "Not Interested," "Hidden Words," and other content-customisation options, rolling out globally soon. Here’s my analysis on Turning Off the Instagram Algorithm - Instagram may develop adaptive algorithms that mix random and tailored content, ensuring diversity while retaining relevance. - Introducing this feature could become a premium option, balancing personalization and discovery. - By balancing user freedom and platform innovation, Instagram can leverage this move for growth while minimizing risks. Impact on Users : - Users will see random content, which may not align with their preferences. Potential for discovery of new interests outside the algorithm’s bubble. - Content quality may vary, leading to dissatisfaction for some users. Impact on Instagram: - Potential decrease in engagement as tailored content is a major draw for users. - Opens opportunities for Instagram to analyze how users behave without an algorithm. - Might create demand for a new or opt-in algorithm that offers balance between randomness and personalization. What do you think .. will you put this OFF ? #instagram #instagramalgorithm #socialmedia #startupnewsfyi

TikTok and Instagram are challenging Google for the search engine throne amongst Gen Z 👑 Here is why we believe this is happening: ➡️It is REAL content showing REAL people. Traditional search results can feel impersonal. Gen Z values authenticity which they get through TikTok and IG. These platforms offer immediate access to genuine and relatable content at their fingertips, allowing them to connect with real people and real content. ➡️The Power of Visual Storytelling. Text-heavy searches are becoming a relic of the past. Gen Z thrives on visual content, and platforms like TikTok and IG cater to this preference with a blend of short-form videos, images, and engaging narratives. Information discovery is transformed from a chore into an immersive experience. ➡️Dialogue, Not Monologue. Social media search fosters a more dynamic exchange of information. It provides Gen Z with interactive dialogue that feels more like getting advice from a friend, instead of a faceless robot. ➡️Algorithm Advantage. The algorithms on TikTok and IG curate a constant stream of unexpected discoveries and inspiration. It exposes the users to new ideas and information they might not have actively searched for, further enriching the information-gathering experience. This doesn't mean Google is losing its place in the world of search, as they are still universally ranked as the top search engine. However, this shift highlights the need for businesses and marketers to adapt. Developing strategies that cater to Gen Z’s search habits is crucial. The future of search is not a single platform, but a blend of the strengths of both – the established reliability of Google and the immersive, interactive nature of social media.
