Today, as we observe the 11th International Day of Sports for Peace and Development, we recognize the transformative power of sports in fostering a peaceful and inclusive society. On this significant day, I am excited to share with you an innovative technology that is revolutionizing the way deaf athletes engage with sports. Ekhosport Technology is a groundbreaking invention, inspired by the founder's personal journey, designed to overcome communication barriers between deaf athletes and their coaches. This technology has been successfully implemented in various European nations and was notably utilized by Cameroon's deaf team during the Deaf World Cup in Malaysia. The introduction of Ekhosport Technology has been a game-changer, providing deaf athletes with the means to receive real-time, accessible communication from their trainers. This not only enhances their training experience but also empowers them to perform at their best, fostering a sense of belonging and equality within the sports community. The benefits extend beyond the field, as it promotes social inclusion and underscores the value of diversity in sports. As we celebrate the positive impact of sports, let's embrace technologies like Ekhosport that ensure every athlete, regardless of hearing ability, can share in the joy and camaraderie that sports bring. https://lnkd.in/egaFYCyq

We're thrilled to see ParalympicsGB have launched their equal play campaign: No child left on the sidelines. This is something we have been advocating for since 2013!🏅 As we celebrate the inspiring achievements of athletes at Paris 2024, ParalympicsGB is shining a spotlight on a critical issue with the launch of their Equal Play campaign. Currently, only 1 in 4 disabled children participate in sport at school, and this campaign calls for equal access to PE and school sports for every child. The campaign follows the powerful Channel 4 documentary Equal Play, which highlights the experiences of two children who face barriers to physical activity and fight for their right to play. The documentary is a wake-up call, showing the need for schools to make sport inclusive for all students. ParalympicsGB is calling on the UK Government to make sport and PE a statutory right for disabled children, ensuring teachers are equipped with the right tools, training, and support to deliver inclusive PE. 🔗 Watch Equal Play on Channel 4: https://loom.ly/SDOWF6I 📄 Read more about the campaign and the policy paper: https://loom.ly/-2VKjvk #EqualPlay #ParalympicsGB #InclusivePE #NoChildLeftBehind #Paris2024 #DisabilityInclusion #SportForAll #PEForAll #EqualAccess

Assistive technology changes lives. That’s the message behind the World Health Organisation and IPPC campaign during the Paralympics which aims to highlight the need for better provision of assistive technology across the world for everyone who needs it. The “Equipped for equity” campaign is more than just a spotlight on the Paralympics – it’s a call to action for government’s worldwide. The WHO and IPPC are calling for all policy makers to -Remove barriers: reduce or eliminate taxes on assistive technology. -Invest in access: integrate assistive technology into primary health care and Universal Health Coverage. -Champion equity: ensure that everyone, everywhere, has access to the assistive technology they need. #ATChangesLives #Paralympics #EquippedForEquity https://lnkd.in/dSc-Zr8K

Cutting-edge technology is now being brought into football, and it's not just about improving the game. It's about inclusion. For years, people with hearing impairments have been unable to fully experience the roar of the crowd during a football match. But now, technology is changing that. With this innovative solution, their disability won't limit them when they watch their team play. This same principle can be applied to care homes. Technology is all about enhancing people's lives and promoting inclusion. But most importantly, it's about giving control back to the individual. Unfortunately, many individuals in care homes have had control taken away from them through no fault of their own. But with the right technology, we can help them regain that control and live their lives to the full. Speak to Spark Care today on how we show you this does not need to be expensive. www.spark-care.co.uk

This short video shows a number of ways that a blind professional may use accessibility tools during their day. More accessible digital tools and services make life better and easier for everyone. It’s an important watch for anyone who doesn’t use these accommodations themselves - even when we think we already understand their importance. Thanks to ParalympicsGB and their CEO, Dave Clarke for sharing. #accessibility #DigitalAccess #DigitalServices https://lnkd.in/eM_CRxhR

The latest from how British Olympic and Paralympic sport is powering positive change: Dedicating this post solely to our friends over at ParalympicsGB 🇬🇧 for their latest (and ongoing efforts) to power positive change for people with disabilities here in the UK. 🟰Against the backdrop of a brilliant campaign out in Paris, ParalympicsGB launched Equal Play. Equal Play exists to highlight the need for equal access to school sport for disabled children. 🦿Just 1 in 4 disabled children say they take part regularly in sport at school. 👨🏾🦼➡️ There are 1.5 million disabled children - 15% of the school population - therefore a huge proportion of young people missing out from the benefits of participating in sport! 🎥 To bring this to life further, Channel 4 aired a short documentary with the 🐐 Hannah Cockroft OBE, PLY, DL about Equal Play. (Absolutely head to 4OD and check this out! Link below) But what now? ✉️ On the close of the Games, ParalympicsGB issued a letter to the Prime Minister calling for action. What are they asking for? 📣Empower teachers with the right tools, understanding and resources to deliver truly inclusive PE. 👨🏽🦯➡️Adapt teacher training to ensure the next generation of teachers have the skills and confidence to deliver truly inclusive PE. 📣 Redefine how PE is seen within the school curriculum, ensuring it becomes a priority across the education system. 👩🏻🦽Increase the number of disabled people entering the teaching profession. Things we absolutely love to see and looking forward to seeing how this develops further 👀🍿 #PoweringPositiveChange #SocialImpact #Athletes #HighPerformanceSport

Came across this interesting article by GlobalGiving and I'm stunned to know the impact sports can have on bringing people and communities together. Sports have an incredible power to unite and foster peace. Initiatives like "Tennis Plays for Peace" show how sports can break down barriers, build bridges, and create a sense of belonging and camaraderie among diverse groups. By promoting teamwork, respect, and mutual support, sports can transform lives and contribute to a more harmonious society. Do give this a read. https://lnkd.in/guxwPkEg #SportsForPeace #UnityThroughSports #SportsImpact

["Special Olympics is not the Paralympics. I've been hearing a lot of 'You must be busy!' and 'Why aren't you in Paris?' , though as the 2024 Paralympics wind down, I thought I'd make some distinctions between these games and the Special Olympics.] - Pierre Comis I'm following up on what Pierre said to help building awareness about the Special Olympics , It's good to know the difference and share it with others! #SpecialOlympics (where I volunteered at the #BerlinWorldGames2023 👇📸) serves individuals with intellectual disabilities. Events are held year-round, and the World Games occur every two years. It's open to individuals of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced athletes. #Paralympics serves athletes with physical disabilities and is a competitive event held right after the Olympic Games. Athletes must meet qualifying standards, and classification ensures fair competition based on impairment type and severity. Each organization is designed to meet different needs, and both are valuable in promoting #inclusion and opportunity for people with disabilities.
