You can also go here to learn more and join us: https://lnkd.in/eMFngk3z One Region is a Joint Venture Partnership of the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments, Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce and the Charleston Regional Development Alliance formed to strengthen our economy and produce opportunities for all residents by delivering strategies and actions that make a difference in all people’s lives. One Region is currently implementing the “One Region Roadmap: Opportunities for All – Economic Recovery & Resiliency Plan”. Developed as the region emerged from COVID-19 the Roadmap outlined strategies within two themes which run through six action areas (listed below) to ensure a resilient and inclusive recovery that enables everyone to thrive. To implement the Roadmap a collaborative model was established where "Lead Agent" organizations have been aligned with each theme or action area and selected to act as a regional convener and lead strategy implementor. The Role of Public Transportation in Supporting Local Businesses The Diverse Chambers Coalition of Philadelphia has released a new report underscoring the vital role SEPTA plays in sustaining the region’s small business ecosystem. Insights from local entrepreneurs reveal that reliable public transit is essential for: • Ensuring employees can get to work. • Connecting customers with businesses. • Managing operational costs effectively. While Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s $153 million allocation to stabilize SEPTA service is a critical step, long-term sustainable funding remains necessary to address key issues, including safety, reliability, and the broader economic impact of potential service disruptions. Business leaders across Philadelphia stress that transit systems like SEPTA serve as a lifeline for diverse communities and are integral to equitable economic growth. I support the Committee for Sydney's Recommendation 1a and 1b from their latest report: "Transforming Sydney's Economy" and sharing some insights. https://lnkd.in/g-vXc_EV " Create a [NSW Government] ministerial portfolio of Minister for Economic Development and Transformation who has authority under Administrative Arrangements Order for legislation that directly relates to economic development". I am also heartened that the report has an underlying worldview of sustainable, resilient economic development towards net zero and equity and social justice. A new Minister will need to guide resilient and regenerative economic development with these principles putting nature and people first to respond to the likely increase in urban poverty and social inequity caused by the mega trends of automation, digitalisation and AI applications. #sydney #economy #transformation #regeneration
