Thank you for the overwhelming support on my last post, which reached 𝟳𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬+ impressions! I'm excited to share 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀, 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 with everyone seeking job.
Here are some resume tips that helped me land my internship at CIBC:
1. 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲: Research the company and the role to ensure your resume highlights the skills and experiences that are most relevant. Use the job description as a guide to tailor your resume accordingly.
2. 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗯𝘀: Start each bullet point with strong action verbs like "managed," "created," and "implemented" which can help your resume sound more dynamic and demonstrate your impact in previous roles.
3. 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: Whenever possible, use numbers and statistics to demonstrate the impact you've made in your previous roles. 𝙁𝙤𝙧 𝙚𝙭𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚, instead of saying "worked on a team to improve sales," you could say "contributed to a 15% increase in sales by implementing a new marketing strategy." This will help hiring managers understand the scope of your work and the results you've achieved.
4. 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗸𝗲𝘆𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀: As mentioned earlier, many companies use 𝘼𝙏𝙎 to screen resumes. Make sure to include relevant keywords from the job description to increase your chances of getting noticed. However, don't overdo it - using too many keywords.
5. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱: Make sure your resume is free of spelling and grammar errors. Consider asking a friend or mentor to review it as well.
6. 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁: Make sure your resume is easy to read and visually appealing. Use a clean, simple format with plenty of white space. Use a consistent font and font size throughout the document.
7. 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲: While it's important to include all relevant information, make sure your resume is not too long. Aim for one to two pages, depending on your level of experience.
Remember, your resume is often the first impression you make on a potential employer. Make sure it's a strong one!
