The Saint John Newcomers Centre has put together these 4 tips to help our community members enjoy the eclipse safely: 📌 Use Proper Eye Protection Never look directly at the sun, even during a solar eclipse. This can cause permanent eye damage. Make sure to use certified eclipse glasses or a handheld solar viewer to safely observe the eclipse. 📌 Don't Use Regular Sunglasses Regular sunglasses, even very dark ones, do not provide adequate protection for viewing a solar eclipse. You need specialized eclipse glasses or viewers to block the harmful rays. 📌 Supervise Children Closely Keep a close eye on children and make sure they are using proper eclipse glasses. Explain the importance of safe viewing to them. 📌 Plan Ahead Check the timing of the eclipse in your area and make a plan to view it safely. Identify a good viewing location ahead of time and gather your eclipse glasses or viewers. Stay safe and enjoy the wonder of the solar eclipse!

14 Million RV'ers are going to be on the move.... The total solar eclipse 🌑 will pass over a large part of the US and Canada next month (April 8th, 2024), and millions of Americans and Canadians are planning to head to locations along the “path of totality” to take in the rare event firsthand 🔭. Over 56 million individuals are planning to travel to view the eclipse, with an estimated 14 million+ of them planning to travel or stay in an RV. Any of you RV owners storing your units at indoor storage facilities may want to make sure and get your requests submitted now to ensure your units are ready in time 😂. It takes them up to 3 days notice in general just to get out of the buildings, so what happens when 200 RV units all request to get their units out at the same time?! Unfortunately RV Safe won't be ready in time for this solar eclipse, but we'll be your best option by the time the next one rolls through. Safe travels for all you explorers next month.
