SO, YOU ARE CONCERNED THAT ISRAEL’S RESPONSE HAS BEEN A BIT TOO MUCH… REALLY? Durning the conversation I mentioned in my last post, the young man, I was speaking with, shared his concern about how the Israeli Defense Forces have been carrying out their attacks against the terrorists that blatantly attacked innocent Israeli citizens. By the way, Israeli citizens that have suffered as a result of this careless and needless attack by radical Islamist terrorists isn’t just against the Jewish people in Israel. This attack also included many Arabs who are not just Israeli citizens, but are also Muslim by faith, and against Gentiles who live in Israel, some of whom are Christian or of another religious faith. The facts are: As of November 15th, as a result of this attack, over 1,200 people in Israel have been murdered. Over 7,771 wounded and over 239 people have been kidnapped. 200,000 Israelis have also been internally displaced. Hamas brutally massacred the elderly, women, children, infants and 260 people at a music festival. Radical Islamic terrorists infiltrated towns and set homes on fire to force families to come out and be kidnapped or murdered. On this first Sunday morning of the new month of September 2024, I reflect on the timeless wisdom of Sir Shridath Ramphal, a global statesman, who was a son of Caribbean soil, whose words continue to resonate in our world today. In his powerful speech on receiving the Medal of Honour from the Caribbean Court of Justice, he warned against the dangers of "excessive nationalism" as an old enemy of freedom. He urged us to transcend narrow self-interests and embrace a broader vision: to see ourselves as part of "one nation, one region, one world." Reflecting on the recent race riots in the UK, the divisive rhetoric in the US and the wars and rumours of wars all over the world, Sir Shridath's message is more relevant than ever. In a world often divided by soft and hard borders, politics, and ideologies, his call to unity reminds us of our shared humanity and the collective responsibility we bear for our future. His vision of interconnectedness challenges us to rise above divisive rhetoric and work towards a global community where cooperation and mutual respect are the norms. As we navigate the complexities of today's world, I for one want to carry forward Sir Shridath Ramphal's legacy of excellence, striving to reach higher levels of perception and attainment.
