🌍 Important Update for Non-Jersey Resident Companies! Revenue Jersey now requires a certificate of residence to be submitted with your 2023 corporate income tax return if you are claiming residency outside Jersey. For this year only, returns will not be considered incomplete without it, so take your time. Additionally, certificates obtained in 2023 will remain valid for 2024! The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has warned of tax schemes that could impact your NDIS business. The ATO says unethical tax advisors often target small businesses with illegal schemes. These schemes may involve complex transactions, misclassifying of funds to avoid tax or exploiting tax concessions. These schemes can end up with you losing your investment and having to pay back tax with penalties. Some signs of unlawful tax schemes include advisers who: * Charge a fee or commission based on tax saved * Guarantee zero-risk results * Demand secrecy from your business * Discourage you from seeking other advice If you suspect that an adviser is promoting an unlawful tax scheme, you can report them anonymously to the ATO. ------ I am one of only a few Australian accountants who understands the unique position of the disability sector and its complex regulations. DM me if you need help with bookkeeping, accounting, tax or business advisory services. #ndis #ndisaccountant #tax

The UK tax legislation is full of anti avoidance provisions to stop individuals paying less tax 💰 One such provision is the temporary non residence rules ‼️ These stop people going abroad for a short period of time, realising income or gains in a non uk resident period (to avoid UK tax) and returning in a short time frame 🏝️ To be a temporary non resident, you will have been UK resident for 4 out of 7 years prior to departure, and returned to the UK within 5 years of non residence ⏰ The effect of being caught is that you will be taxed on that income and gains in the year of your return to the UK 🤔 Temporary non residence rules should be a keen consideration for those looking to leave the UK ahead of the upcoming budget 💼
