Science confirms what common sense suggests: children's experiences in their first five years can profoundly shape their chances later in life. Throughout the election and the upcoming Congress/administration, our leaders will have the chance to invest in this understanding and uplift early learning by focusing on performance and results. This includes building a strong early educator workforce, promoting innovative early childhood investments in research, data, and systems to determine the most effective ways to meet our childrens’ needs, and more. Life Advice for The Next Generation "Right now there are wars raging on nearly every continent. It’s almost as if the adults are doing everything they can to break this world before you inherit it. The only solution I see is to grow the compassion and empathy you need to pick up the broken pieces. Look to the kindness that we show the displaced, the refugees. Let that kindness define the new world you can build. Advice number one: Accept your human imperfections Advice number two: Find your own path Advice number three: Travel. And now my final piece of advice: Look up: Put the phone down and look up. Because the world is a beautiful place and you don’t want to let it pass you by. Now it’s not going to be easy. But make sure you go out there and live life with all of its beauty and imperfections. Meet new people. Eat amazing food you’ve never even heard of before. Get your heart broken. Break someone else’s heart. And then do better next time."
Ben Mook, a middle school educator at School of the Future delivered an incredible speech for the next generation about how to live a rich and fulfilling life while navigating many of the issues we discuss in our newsletter. Read and watch it here: https://lnkd.in/gZArJWpH
