Lead can block radiation because of its high density and atomic number. When radiation interacts with matter, it tends to lose energy through processes like scattering and absorption. Lead's dense atomic structure makes it effective at absorbing and scattering radiation, thereby shielding objects or individuals behind it from harmful radiation exposure.

If black holes can have hawking radiation, then particles going close to the speed of light should also be able to jump the barrier and go faster than the speed of light (but they would paradoxically then lose energy by speeding up further)
