How to get #tradeshow attendees into your booth: (When you DON’T have pre-set appointments or “lures” a.k.a. raffle prizes and contests to rely on.) Some creative tactics I learned while manning the KODA booth at #NHS2024: ➡️ Walk the perimeter of the booth, rather than stand inside the booth. Makes you more approachable, and easier to “bump” into. ➡️ As an opening line: Ask their opinions on products you have on display. This was a great ice-breaker for me, and helped us crowd-source the viability of new products. ➡️ Don’t stand behind a table (or too far inside your booth). Puts too much distance between you. ➡️ Another great opening line: “Hey, are you looking for the [Your Brand Name] booth? It’s right over here.” This was a surprisingly effective pattern-break question that put people at ease, and got a handful to stop and look at our wares. ➡️ Be transparent. If you have “new” products on display that are very conceptual, tell people you’re ‘testing some ideas’, and ask for the attendees opinion on your proposed solution.

Judge us on the company we keep. Strategically it makes sense to want to work with the best and biggest brands in their respective spaces; hopefully some of their gloss will rub off on you and your brand benefits through association. That’s more easily said than done though because any robust and meaningful relationship has to be a two-way street, both partners need to bring something to the party. If not, consumers can sniff out inauthenticity at 100 paces and then they’ll run a mile. Great partnerships have to feel like a good fit for both parties and more importantly their customers. Instinctively does it feel “right”, natural and unforced? For us at The Wheel Specialist we love a partnership but these are just some of the filters that we apply before deciding to approach, negotiate and develop any partnership property. We jealously guard our brand but we’ll never try and over-reach in our drive to create something that has legs. “Judge us on the company we keep” is a great strategic goal but it’s difficult to get it right, however there are some partnerships that just click and The Wheel Specialist and Porsche Glub of Great Britain is just one of those that seems to work. We’ve been speaking to The Porsche Club of Great Britain for close to a year and last weekend, we’re really proud to have hosted 50 really enthusiastic members and guests from the club at The Wheel Specialist site in Witney near Oxford, for a “Wheel Workshop”. It’s our chance to show off what we do and why we do it better than others. From buckles to cracks and from scuffs to failed finishes; we walked the club attendees through our multi-stage process and showed how even the most tired of wheels can be given a second chance. What’s more, Neil and his team at The Wheel Specialist Oxford were on had to answer any questions about the members’ own cars – giving each of the attendee’s cars a complimentary check if they wanted it. Hopefully we’ll hosting more Wheel Workshops in association with the Club, elsewhere across the UK and judging by the feedback from attendees we’ve jointly created something that is right for the attendees. Almost One Year of TKAC It’s crazy to think that it’s been nearly a year since we took the first step and launched TKAC. What started as a wild idea has grown into something real, all because we took a chance. We officially launched the brand in May, but it wasn’t without its ups and downs. At one point, we almost forgot why we started in the first place. But then came our first product, the B-One shirt, symbolizing that first step to Become something better. We wanted to do things differently, and using bamboo fabric was our bold move. None of us had ever worn bamboo before, but now we’re hooked. Fast forward to September, and we've come so far. We’re just past our one-year anniversary since starting TKAC, and it’s been 5 months since we launched our first product. Now, we’ve got 7 products in our lineup, and the 8th is dropping next week. This whole journey has been about testing the market and seeing if others are ready to take a chance with us. - Along the way, we’ve been lucky to connect with some incredible ambassadors whose stories perfectly align with our mission. We hope to welcome even more in the future. - We also attended 4 Fourth Fridays in @forthfriiday Uptown Westerville. A full-circle moment since we used to go to those events as kids! We’re excited to expand into more events next year. Looking back on the past year, we couldn’t be more excited for what’s next. TKAC has a long road ahead, but we’re all in. It’s been a slow yet rewarding journey, and we’re so glad we took the chance to start. To anyone out there with a big idea, don’t hold back. Take your own chance today.
