Market factors affecting Anesthesia groups are outpacing survey data, especially given the 1+ year lag that is naturally present in survey collection. In addition, looking beyond the quartiles at the 25th, Median, 75th, and 90th will also shed light on the variability in facts and circumstances that impact value. No doubt hospitals are feeling this on a regular basis as they negotiate anesthesia PSAs. See article recently released by Becker's Healthcare. * Reimbursement down 8.2% from 2019 - 2024 * Anesthesia provider pool shrinking in the face of increasing demand * Impact from the No Surprise Act * Private Equity Interest in the space Be sure to consider the facts and circumstances surrounding your hospital-based arrangements. It is imperative to understand the interplay between the qualitative facts and the quantitative data to arriving at a credible FMV analysis. Share your comments or reach out to discuss more.

Should We Employ Our Anesthesia Providers? The past decade has seen explosive growth in anesthesia practices purchased by private equity and publicly traded companies. Many of these acquisitions have not met their financial and performance goals. The for-profit companies are demanding that hospitals pay a stipend to compensate for the gap in performance. Hospital leaders are now asking, “should we transition to an employed anesthesia model?” In answering this important question, leadership needs to evaluate: · What model best assures stable anesthesia coverage? · What model provides flexibility to have adequate anesthesia coverage for OR and NORA volume? · What model provides the best infrastructure to maximize reimbursement and collections? · What model provides the strongest infrastructure to manage anesthesia practices? · What model reduces the anesthesia stipend? If you want to discuss how to set up this model, please go to Lumina Health Partners at https://lnkd.in/exNfPumJ or email me at thanners@luminahp.com

Our profession faces a paradox as we navigate an era of unprecedented demand for anesthesia services. While the need for our expertise has never been higher, the practice of anesthesia is increasingly strained by financial pressures, the aging population, the aftereffects of the pandemic, a severe shortage of professionals in the field, and overworked clinicians. The rise of private equity ("PE") investment in large anesthesia practices has further exacerbated these challenges. These PE firms have introduced a model that prioritizes financial returns over the well-being of both patients and providers. This shift has led to misalignment with hospitals and ASCs, higher costs, decreased coverage, and an erosion of the quality of care—a direct contradiction to the very essence and mission of our profession, which is to alleviate pain, not to cause it! At Premier Anesthesia, we are committed to a different approach. We hold a unique industry position as one of the only remaining national anesthesia groups in the market, which operates completely free from any influence of private equity or outside investors. This independence allows us to stay fully aligned with the unique needs of each hospital and ASC we serve, ensuring that our focus remains on delivering high-quality care and maintaining a healthy, stable culture and a positive, sustainable work environment for our clinical providers. In addition, our comprehensive approach to recruiting and retention is designed to address these current challenges head-on. We attract and retain top-tier anesthesia professionals who share our commitment to patient care by emphasizing healthy work-life balance, professional development, and a supportive workplace culture. To learn more, I invite you to read our latest eBook, where we delve deeper into these issues and explore the solutions that are making a real difference. https://lnkd.in/eRMn5FZT #wearePREMIER #anesthesiamanagement
