💡 Incubator Update For the past 12 months, the Australian Access Federation Ltd (AAF) has been working in partnership with the National Imaging Facility (NIF) to understand and overcome the challenges of managing access to data and software for operating complex imaging-enabled research, with the goal of enabling faster access and putting simpler control in the right hands. This incubator is the first step in our partnership aimed at addressing the priorities of NIF users, helping them to capture and manage imaging research data, and making that data a National Asset. We are currently in the build phase of a proof of concept/minimal viable product which will be a single point of access control to reduce the overhead of research administration. We look forward to sharing more updates about the NIF incubator as this partnership progresses. Inspiring opening session today at #RSNA2024 by Nina Kottler, MD, MS, FSIIM MD, MS, FSIIM “The only way to predict the future is to create it.” I’ve always loved RSNA opening sessions, but this one really resonated with me! I absolutely enjoyed the presentation, especially the wonderfully selected and relevant quotes. The challenges are already here. We need to scale at a level we cannot achieve without technology. At the same time, we should aspire to do better—always strive to do better. This means evolving and redefining our roles. Fortunately, the technology designed to address these challenges is evolving too. “The world will ask you who you are, and if you don't know, the world will tell you.” —Carl Jung As radiologists, it is our responsibility to actively participate in the creation of the technology that will enable us to perform better. We need to analyze our workflows, identifying every small step that could be optimized, and work closely with vendors to ensure they provide what we truly need to enhance and scale every aspect of our jobs. Our roles will change, hopefully toward a more cognitive focus. By leveraging our unique skills, we must prepare to build meaningful human-technology connections that surpass our current capabilities. “It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” —Charles Darwin

I'm looking forward to the conference & to engaging with #HigherED leadership on the future. We are at a critical juncture with growing needs to strengthen and re-envision HigherED to ensure that it remains relevant in the 21st century and is an increasing force of leadership for the nation's socio-economic mobility, civic engagement, and increased competitiveness globally, through engagement of all #learners. Academic #knowledge and #workplace skills could be integrated much more meaningfully, #technology could be be used in more impactful ways to enhance learning and individualization, #knowledge could be available in "packages" meeting needs through one's life giving more real meaning to "#lifelonglearning," functionality and structures could be made more relevant to today's world and that of the future rather than that of decades and centuries past, #credentials could be made more relevant and meaningful, #affordability and #access could be addressed while enhancing #excellence - tremendous opportunities lie ahead - these are definitely exciting times of great relevance to the future.

The overall objective of the CSA BrainHealth is to structure the landscape in Europe for research into the brain, its health and disorders, by creating a platform for involvement of all pertinent stakeholders and their convergence around an ambitious Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA). To pave the way towards an European Partnership on BrainHealth, the CSA is currently following a work plan composed of six work packages: 1⃣ CSA Management, led by German Aerospace Center (DLR) 2⃣ Governance & Preparation of an European Partnership on BrainHealth, led by German Aerospace Center (DLR) 3⃣ Shared Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) & Priority Setting, led by ANR (Agence nationale de la recherche) & Inserm 4⃣ Global Outreach, led by EBRAINS 5⃣ Research infrastructures & Enabling Services, led by EBRAINS 6⃣ Communication, Dissemination, Innovation & Impact, led by the European Brain Council You can learn more about the way each partner is involved in this project on our website: https://lnkd.in/ebH8M9xr

It was a great learning experience on crucial topics at International Symposium on injury prevention in Team sports, Technical University of Dortmund. The entire event organised by Prof. Thomas Jaitner and team was truely valuable for all the Sport Scientists in Germany and worldwide practitioners especially the event was international and presentations were in English. The key highlight of event were presentations by Prof. Martin Hägglund from Linköping University, Sweden, Dr. Mathias K. Head Sport Scientist Dortmund, Mario Bizzini, Andreas Groll Some of the highlights of individual presentations: 1. Prof. Martin Hägglund: Majority of Soccer players injuries are related to lower limb Muscles rather tendons or ligaments. Biomechanics researches are crucial to identify the muscle injury risks. 2. Prof. Andreas Groll: There is need of creative approaches to understand the feature importance in Black box models. There is several simple ML models applications possible to understand injury risk factors based on models which mix contextual and quantitative data. 3. Dr. Mathias K.: Great insights on how Science works in applied Settings. Sprint training and match sprints are crucial to identify players load factors. 4. Mario Bizzini Injury prevention is crucial at youth level. Implications of FIFA 11+ program is effective in reducing injuries. I also like to extend my gratitude to Mojtaba Asgari for his effort to organize this successful event.

𝐅𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐏𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐞 CARIM researchers Tim van Loon, Jesse Rijks, Johan V., Joey Wolffs, Richard Cornelussen (BSc, PhD), Nick van Osta, Justin Luermans, Frits Prinzen, Dominik Linz, Vanessa Van Empel, Tammo Delhaas, Kevin Vernooy and Joost Lumens have discovered a promising new approach to treating diastolic heart failure, a condition affecting around 120,000 people in the Netherlands. Using virtual heart models, they found that increasing the heart rate, rather than slowing it, can improve the heart’s ability to pump blood effectively. In a study with 75 patients, pacemakers were used to raise heart rates by 20-30 beats per minute, producing results consistent with simulations: improved heart function and reduced symptoms like fatigue and breathlessness. The team is now exploring dual-chamber pacemakers to further enhance outcomes. Published in the European Heart Journal, the findings suggest faster research through virtual models could bring this treatment to patients sooner. 📢 If you want to hear more about this, tune in for our CARIM Annual Scientific Symposium via https://lnkd.in/e5EAYKGw Maastricht University Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences Maastricht UMC+Heart+Vascular Center/Maastricht UMC+
