Reflecting on a Year of Innovation and Growth 🚀 As we approach the end of 2024, we can’t help but feel immense pride in how much this year has been a transformative journey for our startup. 🌱 This year Ogolla K'Ogolla led a deep dive into Research and Development— understanding the unique challenges of the mobility industry and crafting tech solutions that truly matter. From refining our vision to exploring sustainable technologies and gathering insights from the field, every step has brought us closer to building something impactful. Key highlights of 2024: Deepened R&D Focus: Innovating around technology to empower riders and make mobility smarter. Partnership Growth: Strengthening industry collaborations with players whom we align in resources and goals. Integration with Sustainability: Designing solutions that are not only effective but also environmentally conscious. All of this has been possible thanks to the incredible support from our team, partners, and community. Wilfex Kipchirchir laid down a strong technical foundation, and we're thrilled for what’s to come in 2025—a year of scaling, launching, and making an even greater impact. 🌟 Welcome the new cohort of #startups in our Scale-Up Programme! Let's rewind to the recent kickoff of the EIT Urban Mobility Scale-Up Programme in #Prague on June 19-20. It was an electrifying start to a transformative journey in smart mobility solutions! We had the pleasure of welcoming 12 exceptional #startups, with a remarkable 63% led by talented #women founders: Zuzana Malinova, Vojtěch Malina (E-CAFE BIKE), Endre Hunnyadi (dotLumen), Mina Kolagar (PANTOhealth), Rotem Ben David (Make My Day), Fabian Wöckl (Flasher), Erik Ojantakanen (Rhyde ), Lars Erik Matsson Fagernæs (Aviant), Shay Levy (FlightOps.io), Michal Makúch (AgeVolt), Francescantonio Della Rosa (SiPow). Together with the organising team: Raül Feliu Pèlach (EIT Urban Mobility), Albert Vergés Gil (CARNET), Simon Herzog (UnternehmerTUM), Pavel Chroust, Dóra Marosvölgyi (PowerHUB), we explored the unique startups' solutions and shared insights at engaging workshops with Nir Koren and Lior Baran from Buildinn, Kateřina Lorencová and Magdaléna Prunerová from MgC Group s.r.o., and Ondřej Mirovský from PowerHUB. 🎆 Great thanks to all of you! Let me share some Speed Scaling behind the scenes. 👀  [1/5] How bpost keeps connecting with #startups / #scaleups to accelerate its #sustainable transition? They participated in the first Speed Scaling Event, amongst other things! Back in October last year, I posted here the inspiring and successful partnership between bpost and Medicheck (Jean Rifflart, Amélie Meunier). Earlier in 2023, I actually had the chance to meet Nicolas Baise, Chief Transformation Officer bpostgroup, and Nicolas Petit, to better understand how they envision their collaboration with #startups. Nicolas Baise told me: “I know our strategic priorities. I can sound the business to gather some of their business challenges. If you can find #scaleups working on these issues, we might be interested in meeting them”. I had the Speed Scaling Event concept. 🎯 Last week, BE.IMPACT, TheMerode and myself had our first and very successful Speed Scaling Event. bpost was one of the participants. Karin Enzlin, Head of Sustainability at bpost, with some of her colleagues, Eline Camerlinck and Wim De Belie, had identified a few #sustainability challenges that could benefit from the support of #scaleups. After I presented them a dozen #scaleups working their challenges, they selected a top 3 to meet during the Speed Scaling Event. Karin Enzlin has built hands-on and in-depth experience in #sustainability with the development and roll out of sustainable last mile solutions with Parcel Lockers (24/7) and with the development of greener last mile delivery (PUDO) by offering a convenient and more sustainable answer to the booming e-commerce growth. This is exactly such a pragmatic approach that makes collaboration possible between large corporations like Bpost and smaller structure like #startups / #scaleups. 💪 Big thanks 🙏 to the whole bpost Team for having believed in it. ✅ Hopefully these speed datings will lead to some business and, as such, accelerate, at scale, the transition to a more #sustainable world. What's the formula for a successful startup? 🧪 Meet Flexperto - an exited hubraum investee. In 2014, hubraum became Flexperto's 1st institutional investor. Founder Felix Anthonj shares that besides an investment, his team benefited from using our office spaces and gaining access to key contacts in Deutsche Telekom's ecosystem. 💰 hubraum's support also led to other VCs and business angels to believe in Flexperto's vision. As our Senior Innovation Transfer Manager, Holger Sbrzesny is always on top of Telekom's present and future needs, playing a key role in connecting Flexperto with the right business units within DT. 🤝 Holger facilitated introduction meetings and set up joint projects, which contributed to Flexperto's successful collaboration with hubraum and Telekom. Michael Trapp, Senior Business Development Manager at T-Systems International, supported Flexperto with expert business mentorship up until their market launch. When asked about why he believes the collaboration has been so successful, Michael shared: "What I found unique about the collaboration was just how much trust there was on both sides! Occasionally, there's a concern that startups collaborating with big corporations might lose out, but from the beginning, it felt like we were working on an equal footing toward a shared goal." Since 2014, Flexperto has provided Telekom and T-Systems with a complete, scalable, multilingual, and flexible SaaS solution for B2B customers. Michael shares that "we've already been able to sell Flexperto's system twice," with T-Systems' team convinced of the savings potential and innovative way of addressing customers. In 2021, Flexperto made a successful exit, with its new CEO Moritz Delbrück and his team maintaining a healthy relationship with various Telekom units until today. Honored to meet Ajit Gunewardene, Chairman of Pickme, at an inspiring event organized by Hatch Works! It was insightful to hear firsthand how Pickme has grown from a tech startup to a leading mobility platform in Sri Lanka and recently listed in the CSE as a PLC, capturing majority market share despite competition.
