🤘 Happy Friday! My feed is full of people who are looking for their next role, and my heart goes out to them. It's a tough market for sure and looking for a new job is a full time job. On the opposite end we are having a huge problem recruiting and retaining workforce in healthcare. Why is that? I recently read an article, naming 22 of the U.S. News & World Report's 2023-24 Best Hospitals Honor Roll and their job vacancies. Just from those hospitals alone there are 15k+ jobs open. 🤔 I'm curious, what steps are these hospitals and healthcare systems using to retain the employees they do have? What are they doing to attract new talent? Having worked in healthcare in a past life, I know how burnout feels and I've seen countless others struggle with it at the patient-facing levels. How can we further support our healthcare workers so they can continue to care for us and our loved ones? Thoughts? In a career where my goal is to help others take the next step in their career, I rarely reflect on how my career(s) have shaped me. You see - like most, I have many titles: wife, mom, daughter, sister, friend, nurse, and recruiter. My favorite thing about every one of my titles is the purpose it has given me - and more specifically - how it has built the foundation for my career as a recruiter. If you know me - you know I have a FIREY passion for healthcare recruitment - but these trenches are tough, and there is zero chance I would still be here if it wasn't for the foundation under me and the people behind me. Here are a few things I have learned: 1. Wife, Mom, Daughter, Sister, Friend - Work-life balance is essential. My kids, husband, parents, sisters and friends need me more than anyone ever will. The clinicians I am hiring have families and friends at home that need them more than anyone else ever will. If they aren't able to give their all at home to their families and friends, they will not be able to give their all to our patients. You simply can not pour from an empty cup. 2. Nurse - As a nurse at core, my job is to make sure these patients have a safe place to go in the event of any emergency. When I was nursing, before I went into any patients room, I made a conscious effort to put myself or my loved ones in that patient's bed and give them the care I would hope to receive. From how clean the bed and the room were to how hard the compressions were - I had a physical hand in some aspect of that patient's care. The hand I have in patient care today, stems directly from the providers I hire - which makes it that much more important to find the best of the best. 3. Recruiter: My goal is to make sure you find a position that makes the most sense for you and your family. A position that allows you to make the greatest impact in your patient's lives. Ensuring our facilities are staffed in a way that you can enjoy your calling, and reap the benefits of all the hard work you have put into getting here.

In the bustling world of healthcare, networking isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a lifeline. As a nurse, connecting with peers, mentors, and industry leaders opens doors to invaluable opportunities.
