It was an absolute honour to be featured in BGF’s Good Growth film alongside like-minded CEOs who have built businesses with purpose. Businesses which, like mine, were started from a simple seed of an idea, based on personal experiences or needs, and grown so that idea or solution can be shared with the world.
Having lived a life impacted by dyslexia, and all the challenges, and joys, that brings, Recite Me has been a business built, not only as a solution to thriving online, but with a dyslexic thinking approach at our core.
One of the many positives to having dyslexia is the ability to think creatively. This is something that really gets me excited in business and my team is encouraged to turn up with out-the-box thinking.
Henry Ford reportedly said, “If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.” Without creative ideas, creative solutions, and CEOs, boards, investors who are willing to listen, we cannot be truly innovative.
Sarah Gillard asks in this film, for us to consider the question, “why is the world a better place because we are growing?”
For me, that’s an easy one. My mission, both at the start and now, is online accessibility for all. The bigger Recite Me gets, the more well known, the more well used - the more “good growth” - the closer I get to reaching that goal.
I want to lead by example, I want businesses to lead by example. Together, with supporters like BGF, I hope we can prove that it isn’t idealistic to set out with a dream of doing good, and along the way, do something that is truly good.
