Important to see this action. As an organisation the Launceston City Mission joins with others looking to address the spectrum of needs to support the homeless and families needing a safe home, and welcome the support of all levels of government to help make that a reality. With the high cost of construction, rising cost of living, and the lack of availability of land, we stand at an importanttime in this nations history. Key, though, is that this issue cannot be seen only as an issue for the government and community sectors. Those corporations reaping the rewards of productivity gains from the Industrial Revolution 4.0, have an opportunity as corporate citizens to match the efforts of inspiring industry leaders during earlier industrial revolutions to help address social infrastructure and housing needs. Individuals and communities can also help, perhaps helping to find homes or opening land. Together we can make a real difference.
Good to talk to Jessica Rendall on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) about today's housing announcements following Friday's National Cabinet. First the good - the Community Housing Industry Association has welcomed the fact that the planned $1 billion addition to the National Housing Infrastructure Facility (NHIF) will be (1) predominantly grants and (2) dedicated to new housing for young people, as well as women and their children escaping violence. We congratulate our colleagues in the youth housing campaign #HomeTime for their great advocacy. And second - where we need much more action. There was little in the way of funding for more long term social and affordable rental housing. The first Housing Australia Future Fund tender round has been well oversubscribed with our own community housing sector putting forward at least 26,000 dwellings and actively working up a further 34,000 for future rounds. An easy budget win would be to at least double the fund. OJCF’s Impact Together program has partnered with five nonprofits dedicated to addressing the homelessness crisis in Oregon and Southwest Washington. HomeShare Oregon, one of our participants, takes proactive measures to confront homelessness by leveraging underutilized housing stock and spare bedrooms. HomeShare Oregon is continuously seeking individuals with spare bedrooms, particularly those who may be burdened by mortgages or those who have a desire to contribute to solutions for the affordable housing crisis. Each match not only addresses the immediate housing need, but also frees up an apartment for someone else in need. Learn more about this partnership by visiting ojcf.org/impact/. #ojcf #ojcfimpactogether #impacttogether #homeshareoregon #portlandoregon #Pdxoregon #pdxor #portlandor #portlandoregonlife #pdx101 #pdxnonprofit #portlandnonprofit #housingshare #houseshare #proactivesolutions #housingsolutions #housing #Homeshare #homelesspeople #homelessawareness

As CEO of a small charity and trustee of another I can identify with this article. The problem is big charities benefit from the premise,”that no one ever got got fired for buying IBM.” The strength of small charities is we generate more impact from the money we receive because we are agile, innovative and have lower overheads. Our weakness is we do not have the corporate structures of large charities. The sector needs a virtual network that links small high impact charities that gives the corporate governance structure they need to establish credibility with corporate and public funders.

I preface my comments by saying that I did NOT attend public or private schools. However, I have always defended theircharitable status as I oppose changes to charity law. At the moment the advancement of education is viewed as a charitable purpose. A full list is here https://lnkd.in/eQdSEpAv. I belueve that if a government can restrict this list then a future Government could remove charitable charities such as PEEC or XbyX Bromley based on political ideology or objectives. So I hope that Labour will not, as the current government has done waste billions in legal fees, to force through the policy of taxing of taxing private schools. Or even worse throw the teddy from the pram withdrawing from theECHr. Which, protects or liberty to live life as we chose, without undue government intereference. In any I suspect charging VAT on the fees Universities receive from overseas students would yield more money for the treasury.

When patient outcomes are < healthcare organization profit. I've witnessed this on the daily with many for profit and non-profit organizations. Many organizations should be asking themselves "at what cost" are we willing to decrease quality for a higher overturn??? #healthcarereform #qualitycare #greed #moneydriven #maintaingindependence #topheavyeconomics #patientadvocacy #patientsafety https://lnkd.in/gJ5THyzP

Think about what this article describes. We have to do a better job as nonprofits to sell ourselves.
people who belong to community groups, religious or otherwise, are more likely than others to volunteer and donate money. #rotary #kiwanis #businessgroups
Are we actually in the middle of a generosity crisis?
