That's all in ONE quarter with 2 engineers. How did we do it? - Setting clear scopes (Discovery docs) - Focus on the goals we set in the beginning of the year - Having maximum 3 priorities per week - Make sure to automate/solve repetitive work (Yes, That's me in the picture!)

Olive or Hunter? A client wants a green dashboard. “Green” can mean a lot of different things... Two people can hear the same set of instructions and arrive at very different conclusions. Emerald Fern Celadon Chartreuse Miscommunication between clients and developers happens all the time. Without the right processes and systems in place to clarify client expectations, you’ll waste a ton of time fixing development issues and working your way to alignment. The way you cut down on this is through experience and processes. Working with high-end clients has helped us build our processes, so we know what questions to ask the first time. This means our team gets it right the first time. Our team runs a deep discovery to hash out the client’s exact visualization while learning how the business operates. We also use the agile method. This means we’re meeting with the client regularly to make sure the solution fits their needs. Sometimes that’s through biweekly meetings. Sometimes through daily stand-ins. Either way, we’re building toward the client's vision on the first run. And if we get off track, we can correct quickly. That cuts down on rework, leading to faster builds. Without that, you start off course. And only get further from the goal each week. By the time you show the client your work, they have no idea how or why you built what you did. That ruins trust from the start. Emerald isn’t the same as Chartreuse. Never assume you know what the client needs. #lowcode #appdevelopment #digitaltransformation #consulting #businessconsulting

In April's ODK Insiders call, we discussed adding editing of sent forms to Collect. I'm sharing this video because it shows the level of thought the team puts into every single change and how even seemingly simple ideas introduce a lot of complexity that we have to help users manage. First, Aly walks through the changes we've made to Collect over the last few months that are thematically linked, to give a sense of where we've come from. ✅ Improved exit modal to reduce confusion ✅ Clearer form states on main menu ✅ Greater visibility into last form set ✅ Clearer actions on end screen Then she goes into the feature idea and explains the tradeoffs between giving data collectors the ability to fix mistakes and the need for project managers to have control over data quality. She backs her assertions with feedback we've received from our ongoing user research. We try to roll out features incrementally, so Aly also shares our intended scope for the first version with the Insiders on the call, and split into breakout groups so everyone can offer feedback on the approach. We return from the breakouts, and Hélène synthesizes the feedback, and puts together next steps. For this feature, most felt we should move forward with it and so you'll see it in an upcoming release!
