#16daysofactivism2024 #saynotogenderbasedviolence On day three of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, the United Nations advocates for the urgent review and reform of national legislation to criminalize all forms of violence against women and girls, ensure that enforcement guidelines are in place, and strengthen judicial accountability mechanisms. Dirk Wagener - UN Resident Coordinator in Fiji, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu says that emerging forms of violence, such as technology-facilitated gender-based violence, must be explicitly addressed, including cyberstalking, image-based abuse, and online harassment. Amendments are also needed to close gaps in protection for marginalized groups, including LGBTQI+ individuals and women with disabilities, and to strengthen provisions on coercive control and economic abuse. #noexcuse #16days UN Women

Violence against women is not just a women’s issue, it is a human rights issue and eliminating it in all its forms is essential for building inclusive peace. "Peacebuilding work must transform unequal gendered power dynamics to achieve inclusive peace.
