"The desire for closure can be a useful concept for managers as they seek to motivate and encourage their people. When faced with multiple tasks, employees may prefer to work first on the smallest — which present an easier path to closure — rather than on tasks of higher priority. To counter that tendency, employers could reframe important goals as a series of smaller tasks, each of which would grant employees a feeling of closure upon completion. Understanding the mental burden of uncompleted goals can also help managers better understand their employees and offer guidance for workers who struggle with procrastination: perhaps an inability to get started is related to how far away closure feels." https://lnkd.in/dQH4UPZi

Productive conflict is something companies generally avoid and many view as harmful. A healthy debate can produce synergistic results, if respect and trust exists. If success were easy, people wouldn’t need coaches, consultants, or trainers. Same is true for companies. Productive conflict, well I prefer to call it “loving collisions”. In coaching, there are necessary loving collisions to get to a result worth hiring a coach. Coaches help collapse time and generate decisive results. Am I the only one hungry for continued transformation in 2024?! How have you experienced this with success?!

What is Positive Organizational Psychology?🤔 Well, it’s the science that sits behind everything we do at before nine! So, we thought it could be helpful to share some more background. Over the 20 years in which Positive Organizational Psychology (PoP) has been studied, there have been 2 parallel and overlapping strands of research: 🧠 Positive Organisational Scholarship (POS): The study of the features and influence of the organisational context, environment and dynamics on individual and organisational outcomes e.g. wellbeing, performance. Concepts include: Job-Crafting, Appreciative Inquiry, Positive Leadership, Thriving at work... 🧠 Positive Organizational Behaviour (POB): The study of individuals' strengths and capabilities on individual and organisational outcomes. Concepts include: Character Strengths, Psychological Capital (Hope, Efficacy, Resilience, Optimism). And here at before nine, we apply the concepts within each strand to the strategic objectives and operational environments of our clients - hence, our Positive Working model.
