We need to reevaluate what we consider to be economic success.

We need a complementary measurement system to capture #value in the vast amount of human activity that is not monetized—from stewardship of the environment to love of one’s neighbor—if we’re ever going to get an accurate picture of the health and well-being of a nation. In any case, we need to stop giving the fragmented network of economic #indicators a hegemonic status in national policy. We need to stop cherry-picking economic indicators in strategic communications about the putative reasons for national policy and specious claims about the impact of it. #Measurement is serious business in complex systems. We need serious people utilizing it in evidence-based policy and strategic communications. We need experts, and we need a diversity of them.
