In 2017, sitting in London, late one night, I scrolled past a photo of the (now, sadly, late) Dorothy Livingston, a lone woman in a sea of male partners. It was the firm I then worked at. I read about the First 100 Years Project so I messaged the woman who posted it. I have been made so welcome at so many events and been privileged to make suggestions and help a little along the way. Dana Denis-Smith (who will roll her eyes when she gets this post notification) has been a constant source of inspiration to me and I have never been more proud of her than last month when she brought Lady Hale to Belfast, the first event of Next 100 Years: Women In Law in Northern Ireland. It was hugely impactful to many in the audience and I spoke to some of the lawyers I have mentored over the years, they agreed. Dana amplifies the views of those on the fringes of the profession, whose voices are unheard, and cares deeply about the future of our profession. Dana celebrates the achievements of so many people in the profession, but I want to celebrate her and thank her for all her leadership. She’s an absolute legend and I feel so privileged to know her.
