Did you know there are easy ways you could volunteer your time to help Table to Table? One way is by making sandwiches. The staff at AEGIS Insurance Services, Inc. gets together once a month and makes peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for our community partners. 🧁🍰🎂 Let them eat cake 🎂🍰🧁 Gloucestershire colleagues. Can you help? We really, really need you to. Yesterday, my incredible team and I, along with volunteers from @BraveHCG, picked, packed, collected, carried, sorted, stacked, and stuffed our way through gift sorting and hamper filling for Caring for Communities and People #HamperScamper. We set a hamper-filling record for this year (so far). 125 hampers packed, sealed, and ready for distribution. It would have been 150 hampers. What stopped us? Not enough cake! The incredible thing about #HamperScamper is the generosity of such a wide group of people and businesses. The downside is we’re never quite sure what we’ll have lots of, and what we’ll have little. Right now, it’s everything, but most of all, cakes. Christmas Cakes, Yule Logs, Christmas Puddings. Whatever you want to donate. The grand total now stands at 500 complete. 2,500 still to source and pack. There are nowhere near enough donations in yet, and every day, every item, counts. Can you donate? I echo what Stephen has said. Our volunteering day at St Luke's Charity Shop in Crookes, Sheffield was indeed "hard work, but fun." Spending the whole day on our feet was quite tiring for those of us who usually sit at a desk... More importantly, it was a real eye opener too, highlighting the following points: 1). How much effort goes into running a Charity Shop, particularly behind the scenes. 2). How much money is needed by St Luke's each year in order to keep doing their fantastic work. Total required this year is £14 Million. NHS funds 25% so that leaves c.£10.5 Million to be raised through donations, legacies, retail shops and other activities. Many thousands of Sheffield folks will have their lives touched in some way by St Luke's. So if you can spare your time to volunteer, or are able to donate (either cash or unwanted items) then please give generously. You will be supporting a great cause! https://lnkd.in/euze8eyi

Volunteering a few hours a week can be so fulfilling…you meet new people and gain new skills, if you’re just starting out it helps with work experience and gaining a job…if you’re retired it helps keep the brain healthy and active…whilst the charity you volunteer for gains the asset that is you!! They then convert that to helping those in need = a win win situation! Consider what you can do with a couple of hours, you’ll be surprised at the rewards you gain, plus there’s free tea and coffee & biscuits, and in the winter you save on the heating bill whilst you’re there!!! #volunteering #makeadifference #charity #salvationarmy #volunteersweek

No one should have to choose between feeding their families and other basic necessities. Organizations such as those gathered at the Capitol today fulfill a vital role in our community: ensuring that all people have access to fresh, healthy food. Thanks to their tireless efforts, we can work towards a Wisconsin where no one goes hungry. Ensuring that everyone has the ability to feed their families should be a top priority in our state. That is why it is essential that we provide food pantries and other food service organizations with the necessary resources to carry out their essential mission. As demand for their services increases, so should our support of their efforts. The time is now to act in alignment with our values. It is not enough to say that all people deserve to have food on the table – we need to ensure that food makes it there. That is why I am proud to stand beside each and every one of these vital organizations and uplift their call for additional funding and resources so they can continue to serve our communities. Only by working together can we create a more fair and equitable Wisconsin where everyone has what they need to grow and thrive.
