We maintain communities so that they can be loved. ❤️ A good community moves us, grounds us, cares for us, gives us peace of mind, a sense of belonging, enjoyment, safety and connection. Our reason to exist is to help people love the place they live through our role as their property factor. Real people. Real attention. Real responses. Real care. This is The Newton Way. #TheNewtonWay

Intergenerational neighborliness is a win-win-win-win-win-win-win-win-win. Our ages from four years old to 86, and that heterogeneity is key to our collective thriving. The youngin’s offer energy, delight, and a sense of hope. The elders offer perspective, wisdom, and remind us to slow down and move at the speed of real relationships. Everyone in between has various gifts, skills, and ways of shaping their days and contributions. Neighbors of different generations not only need one another, but they delight in one another. And that delight is an inexhaustible resource of vitality.
Here's what Courtney E. Martin has learned from ten years of living in an intentional community in Oakland, California.

Nearly every other effort at community betterment – economic growth, quality of life, early childhood learning and more, will be hindered if public safety is inadequately addressed. It is necessary to take a broad perspective of what constitutes public safety – yes, it includes law enforcement and fire suppression but also emergency planning, emergency communications, building codes and inspections, safe street design, safe collection and disposal of waste and the provision of safe drinking water to name but a few. Nonetheless, if people do not feel that they, their families and their belongings are safe in their homes, neighborhoods and businesses, few other efforts at community development will be as successful as they could otherwise be.
