Formula 1’s first quarter revenues increased by 45 per cent year-over-year to $553m, mainly due to the additional abrace during the three month period. - Primary revenue increased by 47 per cent to $463m - Other revenue rose by 37 per cent to $90m - Team revenue payments increased to $163m from the previous year’s $112m - Operating income grew to $136m, increasing by 289 per cent With the Australian Grand Prix taking place on 24th March, it meant that there was an extra race compared to the 2023 reporting period. Liberty Media, Formula One’s owners, stated that the inclusion of an extra race, along with higher fees from both new and existing partners, significantly contributed to the growth of its main revenue sources. These include income from race promotion, media rights and sponsorship payments. Over the past three months, Formula One broadened its global partnership with DHL and enlisted IT firm Globant as a series partner. In broadcasting, it secured a new agreement with beIN MEDIA GROUP for the MENA region, extending through 2023, and prolonged its partnership with Viaplay Group for the Netherlands and Nordic countries for the long term. Stefano Domenicali, Formula One president and chief executive said: “Our third year in Miami saw another incredible event demonstrating the growing strength of F1 in the US.” “We are seeing continued momentum both in financial performance and amplification of our fanbase, including through expanding our methods of fan engagement.” #formula1 #f1 #motorsport #revenue #finance #financialnews #sportsnews #business #sportsbusiness

Fan engagement is a key and the most important aspect of off-the-pitch sports business. As it is, sports is all about fans. This multi-year deal between Formula 1 and American Express is an on-point association where both partners can obtain mutual benefits out of each other's strengths. AMEX gets to tap into the F1 in-stand audience while F1 benefits by engaging with AMEX's consumers across the countries. Well, sometimes dollars are pumped to gain pure visibility while some intended at engaging with fans and building database. Without doubt, fandom scores much more with strategy and intrigue. #Formula1 #F1 #AmericanExpress #SportsBusiness #Businessofsports #SportsMarketing

Investment in sports from the Middle East is not a new phenomenon, in both the public and private sector. The region has a rich (and growing) history in hosting large scale events and a deep love for sports. I recently shared some thoughts with Finance Middle East on future sports investment (both in-bound and out-bound) from the region. Great to see Azhar Muhammad-Saul also quoted as Paradigm Sports continue to makes waves in the region and beyond. I share his excitement! Comments linked below. #sports #investment #MiddleEast
