Today is the day of the Sunday Alcohol Sales hearing and we need your help in South Carolina to change our laws. Banning liquor stores from deciding if they want to open on Sundays is based on outdated and antiquated laws from the prohibition era – laws that don’t reflect the lives of 21st century citizens. Help us to urge SC government to let voters decide for ourselves what is best for our counties. State law already allows voters in individual counties to vote on Sunday sales of beer and wine, and both businesses and consumers value the option. It’s only fair to extend a similar option for businesses and consumers to make our own decisions about the sale of liquor. Not only is this reasonable, but it’s overwhelmingly supported by citizens and businesses across the state. 77% of South Carolinians say voters should be able to decide if liquor stores can open on Sundays in their county. Businesses and consumers across South Carolina deserve freedom and fairness to make these decisions for ourselves. Please support this bill and click on the link to share this message with our lawmakers.Send an email in just a few clicks to your legislator NOW. The form is already created for us. Let's make the effort to get our voices heard! Click the link or write directly. https://p2a.co/hcn2wdj

California is looking out for their bar and nightclub patrons. Establishments that sell beer, wine, and liquor (without food service) to customers who are 21 and over are now required to offer date rape drug testing kits. These kits must be provided free or at minimal cost. The new law is in effect until December 31, 2026, unless extended by the CA legislature. Do you think Massachusetts should enact a similar law? Should bars and nightclubs sell drug testing kits voluntarily? This approach can enhance patron safety and help prevent drug-facilitated assaults. By proactively addressing this issue, we could foster a safer nightlife environment. Your thoughts? #SafetyFirst #NightlifeSafety #PublicHealth

Good article on the many hurdles of shipping alcohol DtC, and how the 3 tier system is super outdated. Many state laws (like MI) are archaic. There’s so many grey areas still.

🚨 Outdated Alcohol Laws Alert 🚨 Tennessee’s recent lawsuit against six online retailers for shipping alcohol without proper licensing highlights a bigger issue: the outdated three-tier system. It’s time to ask ourselves when this prohibition-era relic will catch up with modern society. Consumers today expect convenience and choice, yet these antiquated laws stifle innovation and limit access. #Innovation #Alcohol #Laws #ConsumerRights #Modernization https://lnkd.in/g4bQr4bn

To find out how many units you're drinking, take the quantity of liquid consumption and multiply by the ABV and then divide by 1,000. Example one, a 440ml can of beer with an ABV 5% is 440 x 5 = 2,200 / 1,000 = 2.2 units. Example two, a bottle of wine at ABV 13.5% is 750 x 13.5 = 10,125 / 1,000 = 10.13 units. If there are six glasses in a bottle, then 10,125 / 6 / 1,000 = 1.67 units. I thought it was 21 units for men, however updated in 2016, the present UK alcohol guidelines stipulate that *both* men and women should not consume more than 14 units a week.
