Neurodiversity in Business (NiB) - the Neurodiversity Charity’s Post

Now that tickets for the 2025 NiB Conference are available, we’d like to share a first look at the themes we will be exploring. This year’s main theme is ‘Collaborating for Impact: Creating a Neurodiverse Future’, with three sub-themes that build on the top takeaways from our 2024 Conference. First up is People, Culture, and Processes, which explores how to create a neuroinclusive workplace. You keep asking, (and asking, and asking!), so I'm happy to be able to now answer some of the many queries about what themes the 2025 NiB Conference will explore.  This year’s main theme is ‘Collaborating for Impact: Creating a Neurodiverse Future’ and there are three sub-themes, which build on the top takeaways from our 2024 Conference The first is People, Culture, and Processes, which explores how to create a neuroinclusive workplace. Today is Global Meeting Industry day and this is a post to celebrate the growing community who impactfully participate in global meetings- without creating a travel related carbon footprint. 🌱 I remember interviewing Kevin Andersen from Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research almost 15 years ago and thinking 'Won't his commitment to a lower carbon footprint also lower his opportunities for connection, collaboration and inspiring others?' 💡 5 years into following Kevin's lead (thanks to the Covid Crisis for the sharp habit break!) I can confirm 1- 'Global Meetings' remain vital for the work I do and I am still meeting new people, building trust and collaborating (this happens via virtual platforms or local meetings and I sometimes have the feeling that we have been in the same room and get a surprise when I realise we never have!) 2-Increasingly I am speaking to people taking the same approach. 3- There are real benefits. For example while chairing the project committee for the revision of a global standard it was clear that removing the barrier of travel to a specific location on a specific date led to more voices being heard in the process. The future for the global meeting industry is strong. Engaging human to human is how we will build empathy, trust, compassion- everything that is vital for addressing the challenges of our time. 💛 The future for the narrative that a global meeting happens in one room, in one location at one time is limited and is tied to business models that are not fit for purpose in a world where business and government are focusing on scope 3 carbon emissions, debating the validity of offsetting and even if travel related carbon emissions were addressed there are considerations on inclusion, equality and mental health. This prompts the question: 'Can it be a global meeting if the logistics of the meeting do not enable all voices to be heard' #gmid24 #eventprofs #sustainableevents #eventscreatechange #sustainability #leadership #scope3
