Heading home from our third annual retreat with our amazing Ninety team! We are intentional with our culture, and as a remote company, this time to connect in person is invaluable. Sharing meals, learning, and time for general fun are key for our Retreats (my group took on some mountain biking in Park City for “fun”🚴♀️😅). Planning the event the last few months, and then hosting it, here are my top takeaways: 1️⃣ Flow like water: Things will change. It’s inevitable. Adapt. Offer resistance when it counts, but don’t get stuck on the unexpected. 2️⃣ Lean into the team: For our planning team, it wasn’t any of our full-time jobs, yet together we created something incredible. It’s a true reflection of why Team and Extra Mile are Core Values at Ninety. 3️⃣ Don’t miss the moment: Amid the questions and plans, it’s easy to forget to connect. Don’t stress, participate. Grateful for this experience and this incredible team! 🙌

Wow, February truly flew by! It’s such a short month and always goes by so quickly. But hey, we can’t forget to honor our Canary employees who are celebrating anniversaries! 🎉 Congrats to the following employees on their Canary-versaries: Sarah N., Mariana Reyes Vidal, Brian Piehl, Eliza Brillantes, Gerardo Ghio, Amanda Corbosiero, Gareth Lloyd, Caitlyn Harned, Bryan Michalis, Sharon Hales and Dhiraj "DJ" Singh. We appreciate you 🙏 This month, we want to highlight Bryan, our VP of Marketing & Partnerships! 🎤 Asked what makes marketing so special at Canary, Bryan said: “The people, the product and our hotel partners. Our team is simply phenomenal, our product is transforming the industry and our hotel partners are driving that change while delivering first-class hospitality.” Pssst: When Bryan isn’t busy growing Canary’s brand, you can find him hiring! Check out a few of our open marketing roles, 🔗 in the comments section.

I’ve been chatting with friends and clients about offsites, retreats, or as they are increasingly known within remote companies, on-sites. 😄 Like everything, some have been hits, some have been misses. Want to boost your hit rate? Start with the end in mind. Too often we don’t. Those charged with planning the event don’t always thoughtfully DESIGN it. Lack of time, focus, participant input and experience are common pitfalls. When I help clients design these events, I start with these key prompts: - What sentiments or feelings do we want folks to have during and following this event? - What is the purpose and what do we hope to accomplish - Is this practical and reasonable? (hint: we often try to pack too much into too little time) Want to hit pause on the endless to do’s, take time out and gather with intention outside the flow of work? I'd be happy to help you design the perfect experience.

Last week, I attended Conversion Hotel for the second time, and what an inspiring weekend it was! Before and during the event, we were asked to write down our goals. My main goal was: How can I adjust my CRO process to generate meaningful test ideas? Big shoutout to Chris and Roderik for giving me the direction I needed to refine my CRO process. Their perspective on problem-first approaches and the OST framework got me thinking—exactly what I needed! - Great to have Lauris, Gerben, and Wiebe on board for the road trip to the ferry and hotel (and Isa on the way back). - Having lunch with my friends from Daar-om: Lars, Shanna, and Aimée. - Meeting Nicole and Daniël in person after collaborating online for almost 1.5 years. - Reuniting with my amazing international CRO friends: Slobodan, Tracy, and Nils. - Watching Saturn and its moons together with Abi (8 moons, right?). And, of course, the meaningful small talks with Maurice, Lena, Elin Ledenvik, Dirkje, Pieter, Mariska, Wing Yee, Simone, Julia, and so many more (sorry if I missed anyone!). Conversion Hotel isn’t just an event for me. Conversion Hotel is a community that allows me to learn, connect, and grow. Are you there next year? Already counting down to the next one! 🚀
