Here are some Christmas-themed facts tailored for the marine industry: In some coastal regions, Santa Claus is depicted arriving by boat instead of a sleigh, symbolizing the importance of the sea to local communities. 🎅⚓ The marine industry plays a massive role in Christmas celebrations globally, as the majority of holiday goods, from toys to decorations, are shipped across oceans during the months leading up to December. 🚢 Christmas Island, Named by Captain William Mynors in 1643, Christmas Island is a tropical marine haven in the Indian Ocean, famous for its red crab migration and beautiful coral reefs. 🦀 Coastal communities often decorate their Christmas trees with marine-inspired ornaments like anchors, starfish, and miniature ships, reflecting their connection to the sea. 🎁 Some sailors believe in unique maritime superstitions during Christmas, such as the idea that calm seas on Christmas Day will bring a peaceful year ahead. 🌊 #Marine #Christmas #Shipping

Motivational sharing of the day In navigating the high seas of life, expect thunderstorms, high waves and strong winds, sunny days and cool breeze, or even glaringly hot weather with no gentle breeze. Remember to be gracious as you fish from the sea, thanking it for nourishment, even if it is not as bountiful. Sometimes you will feel disheartened, as you see bigger boats, yachts, and ships around you. Do not try to emulate them, your ship is your own, and you are the captain. Your sails will pull you close to the other ships for them to inspire you to build your own big ship. Be mindful that life has limited resource, and to build a bigger ship means to either gather or plunder. You can choose either, it is your ship. Beware that your choice is reflected on your ship, plain for others to see. Also, if everyone's ship is as big as the others, then it becomes unsustainable to the sea. So do not think bigger means better. In the end, the sea is an ecosystem, and so is life. So be caring of it, and your fellow sailors too. Happy Wednes-yay everyone! #lifesjourney #motivationalsharingoftheday

Hello friends family and acquaintances today is NATIONAL HUMMINGBIRD DAY | First Saturday in September! The average hummingbird is between 2 to 5 inches in length, making it the smallest bird in the world. Known for their beautiful colors, hummingbird feathers are an iridescent mix of greens, blues, reds, and purples. Interestingly, the iridescent color of hummingbird feathers gives the appearance of the feathers changing colors in light. A hummingbird flaps its wings up to 50 times per second and has amazing flying capabilities. For example, hummingbirds move their wings in a figure-eight pattern, allowing them to "hover" in midair. In addition, these unique flying characteristics allow a hummingbird to feed on a flower while in flight. Unsurprisingly, because hummingbirds move so quickly, they feed frequently on nectar from flowers and insects. Did You Know? Hummingbirds are a migratory species that travel long distances. For example, the Rufous Hummingbird migrates about 4,000 miles each winter from North America to central Mexico. #NATIONALHUMMINGBIRDDAY #dallasharristips

Hello friends family and acquaintances today is NATIONAL SEASHELL DAY | First Day of Summer! June 20 is the first day of summer and National Seashell Day reminds us to put our toes in the sand and admire the beauty of seashells. Shellers get ready to shellebrate and start shelling! To those not in the know, shellers are beachcombers who collect seashells by scouring the beaches for the gems left behind by snails and mollusks. National Seashell Day is here to tell you all about it and make sure you check out your local beaches during the prime shelling season. For a sheller, the true tulip or lettered olive is almost more mesmerizing than the ocean sunset. Or maybe it's the hunt for the rare or the unique specimen. These jewels of the sandy beaches, the king's crown conch, the apple murex, or even a pear whelk dazzle beachcombers. Their names are as musical and colorful as your adventure will be, so grab your bucket and head out around sunrise or sunset. Seashells are waiting for you! Tips for Shellers: Never collect live shells. When in doubt, always put them gently back in the water. Check local ordinances. Only take a small number. Shells are part of the ecosystem helping to preserve and create the beaches we enjoy visiting. The best time for shelling is one hour before and one hour after low tide. Follow the high tide shell line where the largest waves stop. Watch for full and new moons. They have a higher gravitation pull on the tide and reveal more seashells. Storms churn up the ocean floor sending more shells to the surface and the shore for collection. #NationalSeashellDay #dallasharristips
