For many in the LGBTQ+ community, “coming out” is an integral journey of self-acceptance and authenticity. It was and indeed is for me. Traditionally viewed as a singular event—like a teenager sharing their truth with their parents—we now recognize that coming out is a continual process. Each day, LGBTQ+ individuals navigate how and when to share their identities with those around them, balancing personal comfort and safety. Employers must acknowledge this ongoing journey. Creating a workplace where every employee feels empowered to be their authentic self is not just a responsibility; it’s a vital aspect of fostering an inclusive culture. Unfortunately, despite existing legal protections, many still feel the need to conceal their identities at work. Today, October 11th, is #NationalComingOutDay, a celebration of the right of every individual to live openly and authentically. Let’s take this opportunity to reflect on how we can better support our LGBTQ+ employees. 🌈🫶💪
