Every Parent's Worst Nightmare “school shooting” #mentalhealth #collective #grief Lots of prayers/ love and healing to everyone in Wisconsin Imagine your second-grader, trembling with fear, dialing 911 because there’s a shooter inside their school. Let that sink in. This is the reality we face. We have a gun problem. Gun violence is not normal. We must keep speaking up, demanding change, and refusing to look away while our schools become battlegrounds. As humans, we should never feel afraid to send our children to school. And our children—every single one of them—deserve to feel safe, happy, and protected in the place where they learn and grow. 314 school shootings. This year alone. How much longer will we allow this? How many more children will we ask to carry the weight of our inaction? Enough is enough. Let’s find real solutions. Let’s fight for their safety. MaaPaa.org lead with kindness Remember, we can only control what’s within our reach. Wear Blue on April 10th for National Child Abuse Prevention Month! April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Child abuse and neglect are preventable, and all communities benefit when children and families are safe and supported. According to Prevent Child Abuse America, all community members have a role to play "in ensuring that children have positive experiences and families have the resources they need when they need them, well before they are in crisis." Ohioans are encouraged to wear blue on Wednesday, April 10 to work, to school, or to a community event–to show support for preventing child abuse and neglect. Everyone has a role in building better childhoods for the kids in their life and community. There are many ways you can help, like simply wearing blue this Wednesday or helping a struggling parent or family so they can parent safely, reporting suspected cases of abuse or neglect, donating, volunteering, and/or mentoring with a local organization that helps children and families. Learn more about identifying and preventing physical, emotional, sexual abuse, and neglect by logging onto www.preventchildabuse.org.

Our Focus Goes Beyond Martial Arts: At our UMF academy, we’re dedicated to cultivating kindness, unity, and compassion. ❤️ Giving back isn’t just an activity—it’s a stepping stone toward growing responsible future leaders. This season of thankfulness, let’s encourage our children to spread positivity both in their training and in the community! 🙌 Here are some meaningful ways to engage kids in acts of kindness this month: 🤲 Serve Together: Get involved in community efforts, like park clean-ups or volunteering at local shelters. These activities offer valuable lessons in empathy and teamwork. 💌 Share Holiday Joy with Cards: Craft handmade cards to send to veterans, seniors, or local heroes. It’s a thoughtful way for kids to express appreciation and spread holiday cheer. 🧸 Donate Toys for Tots: Collect gently used or new toys to bring smiles to children who could use a little extra joy this season. 😊 Encourage Small Acts of Kindness: Every kind gesture matters! #ChildAbusePreventionMonth is over, but the work doesn't end here. Today and every day, you can play a critical role in protecting our children. Take a look to see how you can help past April 👇 💙 Host a donation drive (or work with a business to set up a drive)! Collect games, art supplies, and other items for children in therapy. 💙 Volunteer! Join our monthly gathering of volunteers on the third Thursday of every month at our Sarasota office or get information on training to volunteer with the Children & Families Supervised Visitation Program. 💙 Book a speaker! Are you a member of a PTA/church/club/workplace? Contact us to arrange a speaker from CPC to speak about how child abuse affects local children and how CPC is working towards a solution. 💙 EDUCATION! Educating ourselves, our families, and our community is perhaps THE most important thing we can do to make a difference in the fight against child abuse. Learn the stats, familiarize yourself with the signs of abuse, and integrate safe practices into your routine. And of course, we always recommend booking a FREE workshop with our Personal Safety & Community Awareness Team, who will be happy to teach you the ins and outs of over 20 different safety topics- or even custom-build a workshop to fit your needs. #WhyICPC #CAPM #EndChildAbuse #AwarenessMatters #floridaadvocacy

Strength in Numbers: The Joe and Mulder’s Story Witness the incredible journey of Joe and his autism service dog, Mulder. Through the power of community, perseverance, and love, their story showcases how support can transform lives. Joe, a bright young boy with autism, faces daily challenges that can sometimes isolate him from others. His mother, Stephanie, witnessed his struggles with social interactions and self-harm, which made their lives incredibly difficult. But their love for Joe fueled their determination to find a solution. When the Welters learned about 4 Paws for Ability, an organization providing service dogs for children with autism, they saw a ray of hope. They needed to raise $15,000 for the training of a service dog, which is a small portion of the total cost. They thought it would take them 18 months to raise this amount of money. With a heartfelt letter included in their Christmas cards and an article published by a local newspaper, the community’s response was overwhelming. Donations and support poured in from local businesses, students, and even strangers. Within three months, they reached their goal. Meet Mulder: Joe’s Guardian Angel The arrival of Mulder, a goldendoodle, changed Joe’s life. For the first time, Joe slept through the night. His educational achievements improved, and he integrated into classes with typical kids. Most importantly, Mulder helped Joe connect with his peers, shifting the focus from his autism to his loving bond with his dog. Joe’s story is a testament to the strength found in community and the transformative power of service dogs. Through collective effort and love, Joe’s life has been enriched beyond measure. Let’s celebrate Joe, Mulder, and the amazing community that made this possible. Share Joe and Mulder’s story to inspire others and highlight the impact of community support and service dogs in transforming lives. #StrengthInNumbers #AutismAwareness #ServiceDogs #Inspiration #CommunitySupport #4PawsForAbility
