You think you know what you want You think you know the best place to go You think about getting all dolled up and being noticed You think about how long it will take to get there. Then you download the menu, realise there's nothing you fancy, put your comfy pyjamas on and order deliveroo. Because deliveroo is easy, it makes things comes to you, it saves you money and it has lots of recommendations. A bit like..... an EVP. (queue the groans!!!) Plus, an EVP won't forget the sauces, the dips, or the cheese on your burger!! You might want to get out of your pyjamas to meet the talent you attract, but as the 'yoot' in my team put it, you do you boo. Mexigo, my longest running marketing client, is a true success story in Southampton, open for almost 14 years! I took over their marketing during lockdown in the summer of 2020, focusing on refining their delivery offering. By enhancing their delivery service with high-quality imagery, informative item info, and close collaboration with Deliveroo reps, orders per day on Deliveroo have surged by an impressive 400-500%. As a result of our efforts, Mexigo now ranks second in order numbers within Southampton, only behind Burger King. Their Shredded Beef burrito is the most frequently ordered item from an independent restaurant in the whole of Hampshire on Deliveroo! Despite the growth in delivery orders, Mexigo continues to serve its loyal eat-in customers, experiencing bustling lunch and dinner periods daily. It's sometimes the case that brands will opt to not focus on their delivery options, due to the high percentages that can be given away to the services providing them, and therefore it seeming counter-intuitive in the short term. Offering a good delivery service though helps to introduce customers to your product who may not ever come across your store in person, and has the power to convert them into a dining-in customer as well moving forward. The high number of returning customers speaks volumes about Mexigo's food quality, with almost everything made fresh in their kitchen, including slow-cooked meats. If you have the chance to visit in person, you'll enjoy their delectable food at a lower price, with the flexibility to customise your meal by selecting your preferred ingredients. In the coming weeks, millions of Just Eat Takeaway.com customers will be able to order their favourite food and drink to be delivered in 30 minutes or less from 229 Waitrose & Partners locations across the UK Customers will be able to order from thousands of items, including the revamped premium range Waitrose No. 1 and essential Waitrose. This has been bugging me for a while. Friday night, you order from Deliveroo… Or rather, you order from a restaurant through Deliveroo. Who are you actually ordering from? In other words, are you a Deliveroo customer or a restaurant customer? Here’s what Deliveroo says in their T&Cs: 'When you order from a Partner, you are buying the Items from one of our Partners, and Deliveroo acts as an agent on behalf of that Partner…' If you order from a restaurant partner, surely you're their customer. Deliveroo only facilitates the order. Sooo… In my opinion, you are the restaurant's customer, and the restaurant is Deliveroo's customer. Am I getting this right? Or am I missing something?" --- PS This may not be a big deal for you, but trust me, for restaurant operators, it is a huge deal. As it is now, they go blind without customer data. Something needs to change.
