Nebraska Ethanol Board Vice Chair Scott McPheeters spoke with DTN about biofuels policy under the incoming administration. "The renewable volume obligations must be set to levels that foster growth of renewable fuels," McPheeters said. "The EPA should not allow for the abuse of small-refinery exemptions as a method to avoid compliance." Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/ggjhBtjW

Check out the latest Economist's Angle https://lnkd.in/gK8jxuHF where I dive into the 40B and 45Z biofuel credits. Going from the 40B to 45Z likely drops the credit by about $1 per gallon of soy-based #SAF. Early estimates indicate that #soy renewable diesel would get about $.30 per gallon in credits while UCO renewable diesel would get $.63 per gallon. #agpolicy #ussoy

In the Spotlight: Biofuels Despite moderate growth in biofuel demand, we anticipate increased demand for biofuel and biodiesel given progressively increasing renewable fuel content mandates across the country over the short and medium term. A major environmental advantage of these mandates is that they can provide direct carbon savings across the whole vehicle population. It is predicted that for every five per cent incremental increase in the blend rate of renewable content, a greenhouse gas reduction of 1.3 per cent from gasoline vehicles and 2.5 per cent from diesel vehicles can be expected. Biofuels are a vital part of the renewable energy mix, offering alternatives to fossil fuels with lower greenhouse gas emissions. The industry includes ethanol, biodiesel, renewable diesel, and sustainable aviation fuels. As the industry grows, so do legal disputes over issues like regulatory compliance, intellectual property, and environmental impact. Expert witnesses play a key role in resolving these disputes by providing special knowledge and analysis. Expert witnesses in biofuels litigation come from various backgrounds, including chemical engineering, renewable energy, environmental science, and economics. Their expertise helps courts deal with technical and regulatory issues, assess the viability of biofuel processes, and evaluate economic impacts. From process failures to complex legal frameworks, these experts will provide the answers to disputes and support sustainable biofuel development. A bipartisan group of 18 senators just urged the EPA to increase RFS renewable volume requirements for biomass-based diesel and advanced biofuels in 2026. With production capacity up and RIN values down, boosting RVOs is crucial for supporting farmers, fuel producers, and rural economies. Will the EPA act to harness the full potential of biofuels for decarbonization and economic growth? Time will tell, but let us know your thoughts down below. #Biofuels #RenewableEnergy #CorporateSustainability #ESG https://lnkd.in/gq6sEHAZ

Biofuels are a crucial part of the renewable energy landscape, providing alternatives to fossil fuels with reduced greenhouse gas emissions. This category includes ethanol, biodiesel, cellulosic ethanol, sustainable aviation fuels, marine biofuels, biomass power, renewable natural gas (RNG), biogas, renewable diesel, Fischer-Tropsch fuels, syngas, gas-to-liquids (GTL), biobutanol/isobutanol, fuel additives, and more. As the biofuels industry progresses, legal disputes often arise, necessitating the expertise of specialist witnesses. The field of biofuels and renewable energy consulting is led by seasoned professionals, each with their own area of expertise. These experts are well-versed in various biofuels' intricacies and adept at navigating the ever-changing industry landscape. They understand the cyclical nature of biofuels and feedstock prices, and are familiar with the legal disputes that can arise when plants fail or shut down. In the specialized world of the bioeconomy, where the number of experts is limited, the role of an expert witness is invaluable. They play a crucial role in identifying the causes of process and equipment failures, proposing preventive measures, and assessing the resulting economic impact. Legal disputes in the biofuels industry are diverse and cover a wide range of issues, each with its own unique challenges: - Regulatory Compliance: Adherence to environmental regulations, fuel standards, and renewable fuel mandates can lead to disputes over regulatory requirements. - Intellectual Property: Disputes over trade secrets, licensing agreements, and technology transfer can arise. - Contractual Disputes: Litigation can occur due to breaches, disputes, or disagreements regarding biofuel production, supply chains, distribution agreements, and pricing terms. - Environmental Impact: Concerns about land use changes, water usage, deforestation, and biodiversity loss associated with biofuel production can lead to legal challenges and regulatory scrutiny. - Competitive Issues: Antitrust concerns, market manipulation, and unfair trade practices can lead to legal actions within the biofuels sector. Lee Enterprises Consulting has over 180 experts to help you navigate your bioeconomy needs.
