The power of autonomous naval systems. This is as fundamental of a change to Naval warfare in the early 21st century as the Fisher Revolution was in the early 20th. Underpinning and enabling this assymetric advantage all of this is spectrum dominance - which is why what we are doing at CX2 is so crucial #autonomous
The common refrain I hear: The Ukrainians have sunk half the Russian Black Sea fleet and they don’t even have a Navy. But I think they sunk half the Black Sea Fleet BECAUSE they didn’t have a Navy.

America needs the logistical ability to defend supply lines & project mass around the world. Rebuilding shipbuilding & sealift capacity will take *many* years to fix. Given the timeline, such an effort may not decide the outcome of the war — other than heavily constraining our ability to project & sustain power overseas. However, at minimum, it will make an enormous difference to the post-war balance of power.
In World War II, the U.S. built 18,000 ships in a single year. Our enemies couldn't keep pace. Last year, our Navy built eight, and retired 12. Meanwhile, China now has almost 250 times our shipbuilding capacity. How do we maintain naval deterrence? Smaller, weaponized autonomous vessels. Check out this week's American Optimist episode with former Navy SEAL Dino Mavrookas, CEO of Saronic Technologies.

Jocko’s point about balance is spot on. Too much of anything can backfire—discipline included.
