Wish we could hang these on the fridge! Our teammates spent October making blankets with Soldiers' Angels to support VA hospitals affected by hurricanes this year. Take a look at what they came up with. #NavyFederalServes

September is National Suicide Prevention Month. As a Military and Veteran Community member, I have had far too many friends who are no longer with us. It is an unfortunate reality of the profession. For years, it has been reported that the Veteran suicide rate was 22 a day. Many of us in the community have said that the number was probably half of the true number. Well, according to a report this year, the actual number is at least 40-44 veterans a day who die from suicide. There is nothing worse than realizing how many lives we are losing to the battle at home compared to those lost in combat or training. We need to make talking about what is going on with ourselves a normal part of the daily conversation. There is strength in being open about all of the things that we are fighting. Finding your team who you trust to let in is a process, but once you find them things start to change and get better. The important thing to remember is that we are not alone in our battles and struggles. #Suicide #SuicidePrevention #SuicideAwareness #NationalSuicidePreventionMonth #StrongerThanStigma #Veteran #Military #BruceTalk

Join us in Portland on July 16 at 4:15 PM for the VA/DOD Veteran Suicide Conference as we address "The Crucial Role of Relationships in Professional and Personal Success." We all know the numbers: 18-22 veterans take their life each day 2/3 are over the age of 50 Veterans account for 1 out of every 5 suicides in the US The documentary "Echoes from Afghanistan" highlights the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine unit lost 27 members to suicide 73% of veteran suicides are by firearm, resulting in an 85% death rate (compared to a 5% death rate from other means) 135 people are adversely affected by one suicide Dr. Summer Watson, a military spouse, wrote her Ph.D. dissertation on identifying root causes for veteran suicide. She discovered that the inability to develop and sustain quality relationships post active duty is a key factor. The question is, can you find a balance? It is harder than you think. #VeteranSupport #SuicidePrevention #MentalHealth #VA #DOD #VeteranWellness #RelationshipsMatter #EchoesFromAfghanistan #PortlandEvent #MilitaryFamilies #VeteranMentalHealth

We’ve got a problem. The demand for support from bereaved military families far, far outstrips what we at Scotty’s can afford. We can’t keep up. We need to generate £2m this year just to stand still and yet there are over 2,000 children bereaved of a parent who served every year. What you can do to help… ➡️ Can your business sign up to our Business Heroes Club? It’s £250/£500/£1k a month. ➡️ Could you nominate Scotty’s as your company’s charity of the year? ➡️ Can you afford to make a small donation? ➡️ How about fundraising at the Scotty’s March? ➡️ Or what about donating a % of sales from a product line? Together we can provide the support our bereaved military families deserve, but we need your help 🙌
📊 New Data📊 Each year, around 2,100 children experience the death of a parent who served in the British Armed Forces. Scotty’s Little Soldiers currently supports over 680 of these brave children, but we need your help to reach more. Help us expand our support services. Your contribution can make a difference. 👉 Support Our Heroes' Children today: https://lnkd.in/gtk7PTRM #ScottysLittleSoldiers #SupportOurHeroes #MilitaryFamilies #DonateNow #ArmedForcesDay #VeteransSupportingVeterans

#ForMany veterans, the effects of military trauma can make the transition to civilian life anything but easy. Without our help, lives can become desperate. Anxiety, anger, depression, isolation, alcohol and drug misuse, and in some cases suicide – all can tear families apart, destroy relationships and devastate lives. The final report of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide has been released, but the journey towards real change begins now. The report's 122 recommendations highlight the urgent need for systemic reform, and it's clear that veterans' families play a crucial role in preventing suicide. Their support, sacrifices, and resilience must be recognised, valued, and supported by all Australians—not just the Defence and DVA. Now more than ever, we must show solidarity and commitment. This is our collective moment to make a difference, to turn the tide, and to forge a brighter future for our veterans and their families. Together, we can build a system that truly honours and respects their service, a system that provides hope and healing, and a system that stands by our veterans and their families. Let us rise to this challenge and be unwavering in our pursuit of change. 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/gwmZYUi8 #VeteranFamilies #SupportVeterans #TimeForChange #RoyalCommission #Wellbeing
