You probably know that most plastic bottles contain bisphenol A (BPA). Environmental chemicals such as BPA can migrate from the bottles into drinks and thus harm our health. BPA is being replaced by other substances in more and more products. This quirky beverage company is on a mission to make people laugh, drink more healthy beverages, and help kill plastic pollution. Founder Mike Cessario trademarked the "dumbest possible name" for his canned water in 2017 as a stunt to poke fun at energy drinks. But now, Liquid Death has grown into a rare new unicorn, valued at $1.4 billion. Punk rockers have to drink water too, and it's more fun to walk around with a can of Liquid Death than a crinkly plastic bottle. The company has a massive following of almost 8 million across Instagram and TikTok. Liquid Death has doubled its valuation since 2022 and tripled its revenue in the same period. It sold $263 million in scanned sales in 2023 across 113,000 retailers in the U.S. and UK. These impressive numbers have attracted star-powered investors like Josh Brolin, DeAndre Hopkins, and Live Nation Entertainment Inc. The company has expanded its products to include agave-sweetened seltzers and iced tea, and now it's venturing into electrolyte powders with flavors like "Severed Lime" and "Mango Chainsaw." Personal Brand Value A great comment by Johan Van Schalkwyk was my source of my inspiration.  John wrote, "Yet I have seen some people climbing the corporate ladder at all costs through questionable if not unethical means leaving casualties in their wake, commonly referred to as corporate politics”. John described the personal brand value as minus for some people. I replied that those people thrive only in dirt. People who thrive in dirt reminded me of plants that thrive only on dirt. One example is the tobacco plant. When it grows it thrives on accumulating high concentrations of cadmium, mainly, in its leaves. Tobacco collects poison, stores it and then distributes its toxicity to reach millions of smokers. Some employees store their toxicity in other people without them realizing that they became “passive intoxicators”. They remind me of plants such as root potato. This plant gathers insecticides from above ground to push their way into the soil. Contaminants can trickle through the soil and get to our water supply. Other plants are like people with positive personal brand.
