DO TO THE KITCHEN WHAT UBER DID TO THE CAR LinkedIn members familiar with my posts and articles know that I believe the grocery and food industries are ready for severe disruption. In 2013, I wrote articles, LinkedIn posts, and I spoke on podcasts about what I consider to be the Holy Grail of disruption - leverage infrastructure and robotics to reduce the cost of food production and delivery cheaper than the price of going to a grocery store to buy groceries and cook the food at home. In the video I have attached, Travis Kalanick, co-founder of Uber, and one of the most brilliant and influential entrepreneurs in history, outlines his vision for his company, CloudKitchens. According to Travis, this is the opportunity: “Can you get the preparation and delivery of food so high-quality and cost-efficient, that it starts to approach the cost of you going to the grocery store. If that happens, you do to the kitchen what Uber did to the car.” I believe the answer is yes. I agree 100% with Kalanick as I designed nearly the exact same model. However, I desgined the model for Amazon to leverage, and Travis launched CloudKitchens. Amazon is a customer of CloudKitchens, and the relationship is growing. Travis believes that his strength is “digitizing the physical world.” This means manufacturing, logistics and real estate. CloudKitchens has a software division and a robotics division. (A video is played in the podcast that shows the ecosystem CloudKitchens has created via their software and robotics). I believe we are about to witness how powerful CloudKitchens ecosystem is due to their partnership with Starbucks and their new CEO Brian Niccol. Niccol wants to resore the vibe of Starbucks being the “third place.” CloudKitchens can make it a reality. I strongly encourage Niccol to THINK BIG and push the frontier of what’s possible using robotics and automation inside CloudKitchens facilities strategically located in the majority of cities. CloudKitchens facilities can be leveraged for drinks and food preparation. Completed orders can be delivered in minutes to nearby actual Starbucks. Expanding the partnership with CloudKitchens is arguably the most strategic move Niccol can make. Travis and CloudKitchens are creating a new model for how Americans THINK about eating, and they’re also providing the infrastructure and ecosystem to introduce new options for food. The food and grocery industries are a $2T business. Little has changed in the industries over the last 100 years. The potential impact of CloudKitchens is nearly limitless. We are witnessing the next Uber in CloudKitchens. I encourage everyone to watch the video. I wish Travis and the team from CloudKitchens the best. Note: I have tried to get Travis to agree to an interview but so far, I have been unable to convince Travis to do so. #retail #management #leadership #future Chamath Palihapitiya Jason Calacanis David O. Grocery and Food industry disruption! Brittain Ladd You certainly stimulate thought! This reminds me of Ryanair original business model - to make air travel cheaper than any other way of getting to a destination. Crazy at the time, yet Ryanair is still doing fine and largely created a model that met its vision. Perhaps CloudKitchens can be the Ryanair of food production and distribution. Will watch this space. #distruption #innovation #foodinnovation #cpg #foodservice

How I went from sneaking into BevNet to being on stage Two years ago, I had the idea to create a better-for-you, honey-based beverage, but there was one big problem: startups are expensive to get off the ground. I poured everything I had into LIXIR, but coming from the non-alcoholic beverage space, I knew I had a lot to learn about the alcohol industry. So, I snuck in. BevNet events are held in Marina del Rey, just down the street from where I live in Santa Monica. Sure, I could’ve watched the keynote talks online from home, but I knew I needed to network—to meet the people who could help turn my idea into reality. I’d stream the conferences from a nearby coffee shop, made a copy of the event badge at FedEx Office, Amazoned a red lanyard, and walked right in. I’m sharing this story to put into context how surreal it was to be on stage this year, pitching LIXIR to an audience of industry leaders, buyers, and investors. Just two years later, we not only have a real (and AMAZING) product, but also: ✚ A fantastic team that continues to grow. ✚ Advisors and investors I once looked up to, who are now close partners. ✚ Customers who have made our product a staple after just six months on the market. ✚ Ambitious plans to go international within the next three years. Being able to share all of that live with hundreds of people was electric. If you haven’t yet tried LIXIR or want to learn more about what we’re building, I’d love to connect. Drink Different. Bee Better. LIXIR #BevNetLive #HardHoney #RegenerativeOrganic #LIXIR #StartupJourney #BetterBuzz

The Tepiteña: More than a distribution center, a story of effort, impact, and community A year after its inception, located in the heart of Mexico City, La Tepiteña is not just a Coca-Cola FEMSA beverage distribution center; it is a space where resilience, women’s empowerment, and community commitment converge. In just one year, we have built a place that fosters inclusion, sustainability, and social development, positively impacting our community. Every box delivered and every customer served represents an opportunity to strengthen a value chain that celebrates the cultural roots of Tepito, a neighborhood full of history, bravery, and unity. What do we do at La Tepiteña? We distribute quality products that are part of the daily lives of thousands of people. We promote fundamental values, such as teamwork and women’s empowerment. We lead by example, supporting the local economy and contributing to the well-being of our community. As an entrepreneur, my greatest satisfaction is transforming La Tepiteña into a model of social entrepreneurship that not only distributes products but also generates hope, breaks stigmas, and creates new opportunities for those around us. The journey is challenging, but instead of discouraging me, it fuels my determination and confidence to keep moving forward. Special thanks to: Gabriel Hoyos Matias, Angel Gonzalez Gonzalez, Karina Elizabeth Tepale Romero, and Fernando Miranda Perez: For their human support and invaluable contribution from Coca-Cola FEMSA. @Alessandra Rojo de la Vega and Obdulio Ávila Mayo: For backing cultural and community initiatives. Ariel Fuentes Carrasco and Roberto Morris: For their constant mentorship. My parents: For being my greatest inspiration and unconditional support. I am convinced that together we can continue building a more inclusive and promising future. Coca-Cola FEMSA has been a key pillar in this mission, and my commitment is to keep strengthening this partnership to create even greater impact. Would you like to learn more about how La Tepiteña strengthens our value chain and drives change in our community? Let’s talk and explore new opportunities together! Together, we build community, generate value, and break barriers. Let’s keep moving forward towards a future full of opportunities! #CulturaTepito #WomenEmpowerment #SocialEntrepreneurship #LaTepitena #Resilience #ValueChains #CommunityPride #InclusiveGrowth
