Last summer, Saudi took the football world by storm by spending close to $1 billion on talent. Whilst the rumour mill hasn’t stopped spinning, this summer is expected to be much quieter. There have been murmurs that Saudi is changing its approach to signing European talent. Previously signing players in the twilight of their career, there now appears to be recognition that they want to sign younger players help to develop their game. However, it’s not just the desire to sign younger players - The kingdom is having to shift its focus on funding its $1.25 trillion giga-projects programme according to analysts. There has also been an attempt to monetise football nationwide, with 14 clubs being put up for sale with the aim of encouraging the business sector to take part in the growth of football. Am sure by now some of you will be thinking that it’s an outrageous salary for a player of that age. Well, the club signed him for two major reasons ; 1. It’s because of what he has to offer on the pitch . 2. And because of the name - CR7. …. there is a huge influence that accompanies the name . For instance, the club (Al Nassr) had 864,000 followers on instagram but two weeks after signing him, they recoded a 11.6 million followers. The unveiling had about 3 billion views across the world not to talk of the amount of money the club made through the sales of his jersey, Hhhmmm…. Besides, I even heard about the club for the first after they signed Ronaldo . The name CR7 is a product of decades CONSISTENT HARD WORK and DISCIPLINE.
