When it comes to grant funding, relationship-building isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s a game-changer. In our analysis of over 650 grant proposals from the past two years, we found that proposals where applicants cultivated funder relationships achieved a 26% higher win rate. This insight shows how critical it is to actively engage with funders before submitting proposals. Some actions to consider: - Schedule regular check-ins with funders to keep them updated on your mission’s impact. - Share program successes and challenges openly—transparency fosters trust. I’m thrilled to explore more of these insights and support organizations in making the most of their grant-seeking efforts. What actions can you take today to help cultivate your institutional funders? Want to learn more about leveraging relationship-building for funding success? Today's Uniform Grant Guidance update from The White House focused on how the revised UG update aims to: ✅ Simplify NOFOs (Funding Ops) for increased accessibility ✅ Enhance Equity and the ability to get money into communities ✅ Improve data for better reporting to Congress ✅ Clarify how funds may be used by recipients, including for data systems ✅ Simplify management of grant funds upon award (but no details on the "how" during the announcement conference) I look forward to digging into the final documentation and learning how agencies will implement!

Industry Insider Top Tip: If you decide to write your own funding application question, just make sure you: 1. answer the EXACT question asked, and 2. align your answer to what the funding board wants to achieve by giving away their money. This could be increased local jobs or gorwing the regional economy, making industry or populations more diverse, or making a town a more desirable place to live. Explain how your project achieves those goals and you stand a much better chance of winning the grant funding.

Just over half way! I have spent a few late nights this weekend personally writing to 381 elected members from 37 councils (I still have 31 councils to go) asking them for their support in addressing the critical issue of inequitable funding for many Councils. The cumulative effect of this ongoing underfunding is considerable. In fact, 51 of the 68 South Australian councils were underfunded last year alone. Twenty five years of ongoing underfunding in Mid Murray is just too much (more than $80million). Our communities are resilient, but this ongoing pattern of underfunding must be addressed. I’m not sure I’m going to get time to finish the email list before tomorrow morning so if you’re in Local Government, LGA SA has organised an online Round Table tomorrow to discuss financial sustainability within local government. This free webinar is open to council staff and elected members, and I strongly encourage you to participate. Registrations to this workshop are essential, check your email from this morning for LGA latest news to find the link to register. This is an important opportunity to explore financial sustainability within our sector.

**Update** The Maryland Business Boost Microgrant is reopened for registration... 🚀 You can still apply if you are eligible: -Maryland-based business with between 2 - 50 Full-Time Equivalents -Located in a Sustainable Communities designated area -Annual revenue of at least $50,000 but no more than $1 million. -In good standing with the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation (SDAT) There are loads of nuances in this application- reach out if you need help! P.S. My guess was registration closed because the system got overwhelmed and couldn't handle the number of registrations sent. That's good news! It means you still have time to submit a solid application! #maryland #business #Mdbusiness
