Myth ❌ “Volunteering is a waste of my time” Facts ✅ One of the biggest misconceptions about volunteering is that it isn't beneficial for the volunteers. However, NCVO found quite the opposite to be true. 92% of people who had given time volunteering in 2023 were satisfied with their experience, and 75% of people said that it had helped with their mental health and well-being. A solid piece of advice? Raise your hand.   I’m not only talking practically, though I do encourage speaking up and sharing your perspective. Since April is #NationalVolunteerMonth, I’d love to talk about raising your hand to give back to your community. I’ve always encouraged my family to give back by volunteering, doing things within our power to make a difference in the community we live in. I view it as all of our responsibility to give back.   At Silfex, we’re given paid time off to volunteer. I believe this is being part of the community we live and work in. One of the things I love most about our culture is seeing how much our team members give back to the community. When there is a call for help, we raise our hands. Recently, there were devastating tornadoes in our area. The team jumped into action – donating water and using volunteer time to help community members impacted by the storms.   It’s inspiring. It makes me even more proud to work with the team. It makes me a better community member and it helps to build the culture of giving.   What does volunteering mean to you?
