❄️ Why We’re Opting Out of Black Friday—for Good ❄️ As the first snow blankets the peaks, the world below dives into the chaos of Black Friday. But at AlpineStandards, we’ve chosen a different path—one rooted in purpose, craftsmanship, and respect for the outdoors. 💡 Here’s Why: ✅ Upholding Quality: Our gear isn’t just made; it’s forged to endure nature’s toughest challenges. Slashing prices undermines the value of thoughtful design and exceptional craftsmanship. ✅ Fostering Community: We’re here for mountain enthusiasts who value their gear as tools for exploration, not fleeting trends. Thoughtfulness over impulse—that’s the AlpineStandards way. ✅ Championing Longevity: Repair, reuse, and upcycling are part of our DNA. Our commitment to durability goes beyond trends, creating gear that’s built to last and minimize waste. We believe in fair pricing every day of the year, honoring the same principles that inspire every summit and trail. Together, let’s redefine value—not with discounts but with innovation, trust, and purpose. 🌟 Explore more about why we’re choosing integrity over the frenzy in our latest Journal article https://lnkd.in/dDEYZNxz

Christmas is around the corner ;) 🎃🎄 One thing that always amazes me in North America is how early we start gearing up for major holidays like Halloween and Christmas. The decorations go up weeks (even months) ahead of the actual event! 🎃👻🎄 This year, I was visiting family in Alabama in late July, and I was shocked to see almost nothing left in stores for back-to-school—yet shelves were already filling with holiday items. Fast forward to today, and I just saw one of my neighbors putting up their Christmas tree... While it’s fun to get in the holiday spirit early, it also poses some interesting challenges, especially in logistics and supply chain management. In North America, retailers and businesses have to order and adjust inventory much sooner to meet this early demand. Timing is everything! What do you think? Are we getting into the holiday spirit a bit too soon, or is it just part of the excitement? 🎅🤔

Friday Fun Fact: Black Friday Harvest festivals are not unusual around the world, but the American holiday of Thanksgiving is in a league of its own. Over time it has shed its religious roots and become a largely secular holiday celebrating family and togetherness. Many elements of Thanksgiving are little known outside of North America, but around the world businesses and consumers know what comes next: Black Friday, marking the start of the Christmas shopping season. The term “Black Friday” has evolved in meaning and impact over the years initially referring to the 1869 financial crisis, workforce absenteeism post-Thanksgiving, and reinterpreted by Philadelphia police to describe the shopping-induced congestion. Attempts at rebranding to "Big Friday" failed, and the term "Black Friday" solidified by the 1980s, referring to the pivotal point where retailers purportedly shifted from loss ("in the red") to profit ("in the black"). This day marks the unofficial start of the Christmas shopping season, with promotional sales aiming to draw large crowds. Black Friday is the busiest shopping day of the year in the United States Since then, the one-day sales bonanza has morphed into a four-day event, and spawned other “retail holidays” such as Small Business Saturday/Sunday and Cyber Monday. Stores started opening earlier and earlier on that Friday, and now the most dedicated shoppers can head out right after their Thanksgiving meal.

🦃🍂 Happy Thanksgiving to our American friends! Wishing you all a wonderful day with friends and family. We hope your day is filled with laughter, love, and just the right amount of family drama. 🥧🍗 And as the turkey settles, let’s gear up for the holiday shopping frenzy! Black Friday kicks off tomorrow (but does it really? We feel like it’s been here all week!), and we’ve already spotted some awesome holiday promos making waves. One of our favourite in-store promotions we’ve seen is World Market’s Golden Elf Treasure Hunt ✨ This fun and interactive promotion encourages shoppers to search the store for a "Golden Elf” which will award them $20, $50 or $100 off their purchase! We love this promo because it’s super fun, unique, and encourages shoppers to look around the store as opposed to just heading for what they need and getting out. What’s your favourite holiday promotion you’ve seen so far? Tell us in the comments! 👇🎁 #redcatmarketing #holidaypromotions

Black Friday Info - Black Friday originated from slavery. It was the day after Thanksgiving when slave traders would sell slaves for a discount to provide plantation owners with more helpers for the upcoming winter (for cutting and stacking firewood, winter-proofing, etc.). Hence, the name. After slavery was abolished, the practice was still prevalent in the Mississippi region during the 1870's. Former slave owners created this loophole as a way to continue slavery in a way. They would present themselves as shop owners and auction off black 'workers' because of the need to have more help during the winter. No financial compensation was provided. Slaves would be compensated with food and shelter and this allowed slavery to extend further. Many fail to realize that their infatuation with this shopping "holiday" is only another way to keep former traditions alive. Whatever you do during the holiday season, please do not give in to the $200 50-inch televisions that are on sale. Spend it with your family and friends.
