Leadership requires influence and trust, not authority. Leading volunteers and managing corporate teams both demand strong leadership. Volunteers, driven by purpose—not paychecks—flourish with clear communication, shared goals, and genuine appreciation. Likewise, corporate teams excel when aligned with meaningful visions and feel truly valued. The key difference? Volunteer leadership relies entirely on influence and trust—no “carrot or stick,” just purpose. People achieve incredible results when motivated by something bigger than themselves. This is why the Junior League of Dallas is a transformative leadership training ground. For over 100 years, Junior League of Dallas has aggregated high-impact volunteer opportunities, addressing critical issues like education, safety, and economic stability—factors that directly shape community health outcomes. I was initially drawn to the League for its deep community integration, but I’ve been amazed by how it trains women as leaders. I'm so grateful to the women who've seen more in me than what I see in myself. If you ever work with a Junior League woman, take note: they are leaders capable of extraordinary impact. #leadership #communityimpact #volunteerism #juniorleague #WomenInLeadership #JLD #SDOH #JLDallas

Are you a servant leader? The servant leader is someone who prioritizes the needs of others before their own and focuses on the growth and well-being of their team and their community. The concept of servant leadership turns the traditional leadership model upside down; instead of the people working to serve the leader, the leader exist to serve the people on their team, in their organization or in their community. #NonprofitLeadership #CommunityService #ServantLeadership
Board-Certified Pediatrician | Healthcare Executive | Visionary Leader | Healthcare and NonProfit Transformation | Community Champion
Last week, Elona Deprez and I had the distinct pleasure of lunching with the remarkable Marygrace Billek, the recently retired Director of Human Services for Mercer County Administration. MaryGrace continues her journey of service as a board member of the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen and the Princeton Area Community Foundation. As we shared stories over lunch, I was reminded of the power of “servant leadership,” a philosophy that MaryGrace embodies so fully. It’s about leading with heart, focusing first on the well-being of the community and the people within it. Her dedication inspires those around her, including myself, to lead in a manner that prioritizes the greater good. Thank you, MaryGrace, for showing us that true leadership is about service and making a difference in the lives of others. Your legacy inspires us all to contribute more passionately to our communities! #Leadership #CommunityService #ServantLeadership #Inspiration #HumanServices #SocialImpact

I'm so proud to lead leaders like Eric Nguyen here at Carbon Health. While he's early on his leadership path, he's quickly mastered many of the basics: 1. Exceptionally capable, yet humble. Eric delivers results, yet is more eager to praise others than to take credit for himself. He doesn't hide problems, and never brings one without presenting two possible solutions. He then tosses his earned laurels aside to tackle whatever's next. 2. Expert tight-rope walker at fostering relationships in the workplace. He truly cares about his people and the company simultaneously. He builds camaraderie and culture without needlessly pandering to individual whims or sacrificing accountability. That strong dyad partnership is no accident! 3. Master of processes and procedures, and isn't afraid to "teach up." Eric taught me (a physician with very nearly 20 years of experience) much of what it takes to get through my clinic days at Carbon Health with ease. This isn't just by chance! He's continuously honed those processes through repeated trial and error. His clinician onboarding process is now spreading across the organization, and we're better for it. Which of these skills resonate most for those of you who lead early career leaders? Which made the biggest difference at the beginning of your own leadership journey?
Our Arboretum site is located in northwest Austin, TX near The Domain, the city's bustling "second downtown." It has been open for a little over one year with Eric Nguyen leading the way since the clinic's debut. His partnership with Clinic Manager Dafne Barrientos Neiheiser is one of the strongest dyad leadership teams we have! 🏆 #carbonhealth #lifeatcarbon

👉 3 Leadership Lessons I learned from Georgia Institute of Technology Head Football 🏈 Brent Key: ✅ Authenticity is magnetic and inspiring 💡. Coach Key’s genuine empathy and passion for his team and organization shines 🌟 through and encourages others to follow his lead. ✅ Relationships 👯 are critical to advancement. Coach Key’s strong relationships with his athletes, staff, and mentors, that he cultivated by listening 👂 and building strong connections, are keys to his success. ✅ Mistakes are opportunities for growth 📈. Coach Key admits and finds opportunities to grow and improve from all his mistakes, but at the same time, he intentionally shuts out the negativity 🛑 that can thwart growth by staying clear of social media. ✅ Thanks Atlanta Intown Georgia Tech Network, Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business, and Georgia Tech Athletic Association for hosting such a fun event 🥂.
"You have to keep the connection with people" was one of the many take-aways from an inspiring conversation on leadership with GT Head Football Coach Brent Key. The evening with #gtalumni and friends was about something bigger than football. It was about relationships, authenticity, relatability, perseverance, and humility - characteristics that define great leaders. Thank you to our partners at Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business, Georgia Tech Athletic Association, Georgia Tech Alumni Association, and the GT community for a wonderful evening! Special thanks to our moderator, President Dene Sheheane, and to our host, Dean Anuj Mehrotra! #gojackets #StellarAtScheller #gtintown #gtfootball #leadership #stingem 🐝 cc: Nick Franco, Annie Y. Leadership and servanthood are closely linked, with leadership emphasizing the leader's role as a servant first. At its core, servant leadership prioritizes the needs, growth, and well-being of team members and the community. This approach fosters a supportive and empowering environment, encouraging collaboration, trust, and the development of future leaders. In essence, effective leadership often embodies elements of servanthood, focusing on serving others to achieve collective goals.
“If serving is below you, then leadership is beyond you.” This is important when serving, not only the citizens that expect you to show up for them, but also when serving your fellow firefighters that need you to show up for them too. #serve #leadership #futureleaders #itstartswithyou #hcfr #hallcounty #firefighters
