I serve people that want to win | Helped individuals & their companies generate $500m+ in new revenue | Sales, CX & Leadership | Let's chat👇🏼
🚨 Attention WNY 🚨
I know of a great opportunity with a company looking for an experienced full-cycle AE.
Strong leadership in the Sales Org and the tech stack is in place to succeed.
Competitive compensation package offered to someone with experience and a track record of success.
If you are this person or know of this person, shoot me a message.
📸 had some fun with AI to generate the image
That was actually really fun.
In the last 2 weeks, I met with 8 job seekers looking for positions ranging from BDR to AE up to sales management. The biggest recurring theme that emerged was differentiating from the pool of candidates.
The standard application process is like hoping to nail a shot from half-court. Unless you're Payton Pritchard, your chances of success are just too low (clearly still riding high from Monday 🏀 ☘ ).
Collectively, we brainstormed some strategies that do work, and help to showcase relevant skills, experiences and also express genuine interest in the role. Thought I'd drop a few here in case anyone could benefit...
1.) Does the company offer a free trial? If so, sign up! Use the product, compile your feedback, and come to the conversation with some perspective on the values of the solution or product-specific questions. Bonus points if you also download a competitor's product and offer that perspective as well.
2.) Why wait until you have an offer for the reference check? Ask 4-5 people in your network to provide a referral and compile it nicely in a PDF you can include in your application. Drop it in the cover letter section which is usually optional and goes unused 65% of the time (according to Jobvite).
3.) For BDR's, proactively share a sequence you created to show you know the company's messaging and personas. With the right prompt in ChatGPT or Perplexity, you can easily create a sequence that shows you get it.
4.) Don't be shy with outreach. Find 3 tiers of contacts you can contact to express interest in the position and ask to learn more. For an AE role, this might be a tenured AE, a VP of Sales and a member of the talent team. Will they take a call? Eh, probably not. But, if the VP of sales pings the recruiter to take a look at your application, guess who just moved to the top of the pile?
5.) Send a thank you note. OK, this is such an easy one. But after conducting dozens of interviews over the last couple of years I'm shocked how few candidates do this.
I think creativity is one of the most under-appreciated aspects of good salesmanship. Are you following a standard playbook, or are you enhancing it? The best sales pros I've worked with aren't just the ones that routinely hit their number. They are the ones who constantly go above and beyond and seek new ways to break through.
Hope this helps someone out there. Happy hunting!

I've got a bit of time on my hands...
One thing I'd like to do is give a little something back to the SaaS sales community.
Last week I spent some time with two former coworkers who are looking for a new opportunity. We had some fun digging into a few areas:
👋 How to stick out from other applications
👏 Nailing that role play presentation
🧐 Ways to research a company to show you did your homework
🤝 How to "outbound" into a company of interest
☘ Can the Celtics complete the job
We all know this market is rough (and has been for some time). After hiring 25+ AE's over the last few years it's clear....there's so much talent that just needs to find the right fit. And, maybe a sounding board from time to time. Happy to be that board!
If you or any friends are "on the bench" or looking, I'm happy to chat. My rates are $0.00/hr. Just drop me a message! See ya out there 😎

Why Timing Matters When Hiring an AE!
Hiring an AE in February or March puts them at a disadvantage, as they’ll spend the first half of the year ramping up without closing meaningful deals.
Bringing someone on board in January, however, allows them to build momentum early in the year, positioning them to drive revenue by Q2. This small shift in timing can significantly impact results for your team.
If you’re a sales leader looking to hire a strong AE to hit the ground running in January, let’s connect and make it happen.

You might have noticed that our Marketing has been popping off (S/O to Giano Fiore 👨🚀 and Jesse Marseille for making that happen)
We are getting 𝗧𝗢𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗦 of apps
And if you’re an SDR you might have seen Jared Dietz’s post on how he gets 100s of outreach

So how do you stand out?
Get creative, be the 0.001% who thinks outside of the box
I was DQ’d when I cold applied
But then I sent a video to Jared that stood out from the noise and got his attention
And now I’m on the Salesfloor everyday with the team and hitting quota with accelerators 💪
I did the job to get the job
and so should you
(Maybe I’ll post the video in the future 👀)
I’ve been at Deel for 3 years.
And have done 55 promotions 🤯
𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻:

3. Senior AE > MM AE (9)
4. Senior AE > AM (1)
5. Senior AE > Manager (5)

Hiring your first sales rep? Read this!
Most founders think hiring a sales rep is just about filling a position. It's not that simple.

Thought of The Day (06/19):
Four People I would hire for a SaaS or Technology Enterprise Account Executive Role before hiring someone already in a similar position from an existing SaaS or technology company:
1) The dude at McDonalds that asks, “You want fries with that?” (They at least know how to ask and make the most of inbound leads)
2) Girl Scout Cookie Stand Kids (They come at you hard and know how use a few seconds to get you interested)
3) An Amish Person (They don’t have LinkedIn)
4) BDR/SDR Reps for existing SaaS & Technology companies with 6 or more months experience. (They are being underutilized and have the hard part already down)
