Rising and Shining: Demystifying the Art of Baking Bread Kora is thrilled to highlight the inspiring journey of Kitty Tait who has turned her passion for baking into a mission to share the joy and simplicity of making bread with the world. Featured in Positive News, Kitty’s story is one of transformation, resilience, and community impact. 🌱 The Journey: Kitty Tait, along with her father Alex, started the Orange Bakery in Watlington, Oxfordshire. Baking helped Kitty overcome a period of severe depression, giving her a sense of purpose and joy. What began as a therapeutic hobby quickly evolved into a successful business, capturing the hearts of many through their delicious creations and engaging social media presence. 🍞 Breaducating Britain: Through her project, Breaducating Britain, Kitty aims to demystify the process of baking bread, making it accessible to everyone. The initiative has distributed around 40,000 free bread kits to schools, prisons, food hubs, and individuals, promoting the mental and physical health benefits of baking. 🌍 Community Impact: The Orange Bakery’s success has not only been a personal triumph for Kitty but also a beacon of hope and empowerment for the community. Austin Eats is a 22-member collaborative is focused on creating a more resilient community, especially a more resilient food system, through action, learning, justice, and equity and inclusion. Austin’s 90,000+ residents currently only have two full grocery stores available for a community that is Chicago’s largest community area in size. Austin Eats helps the community realize its desire to revitalize the image and spirit of Austin by creating environments that foster health and wellness and promote healthier food choices across Austin. Like other One Earth Local programs, Austin Eats is working to build a replicable model to be used for other communities. STORY TIME: I had lunch at my son's school today. Thanksgiving Lunch at school. The food was horrific. Is it just me and my kiddo who can't finish this shtuff? Looking around, I noticed most of the parents and kids did NOT eat their food. They drank the milk, ate the pudding, and nibbled on the rest. Can the US do better? Is there an opportunity for private businesses to help improve the food? This is one of the best school districts in the city btw. #school #food #digitalmarketing

The biggest school meal program in the United States is the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), which was created under President Harry S. Truman in 1946. Food insecurity has risen in recent years, so having this program is important. However, for children with ARFID the school cafeteria can be a scary place. Will there be something for the child with ARFID to eat? Will the kid next to them eat food with a strong smell? Will my friends tease me about the food I bring?
