"How you do anything is how you do everything", which is as motherhood a statement as ever. Motherhood statements and language that goes no where is great for "the gram" but it doesn't fly when you're running a major operation that has real risks and problems attached to it. What does matter though is how you deal with getting back up after being hit, and this says more about you than anything else I reckon I've seen. The leaders I work with in our company know that self-discipline and taking small steps every day towards personal or professional goals are what make people resilient. They also know where they want to get to because they've put in the time and effort to keep trying to be successful and know what that looks like. Being tough makes you more stable, both in life and in security, because you learn that you can take a hit and keep going. When you give employees a safe, trusting, and secure place to work, companies quickly create a more engaged and productive atmosphere. This is because employees know they can fail and won't be punished severely. Taking the chance of failing might seem like the wrong thing to do. Accepting failure or even bad performance is not what I'm advocating; quality protocols, processes, systems, and training will keep you from doing that.
