AI tools can help you write code, analyze data, and even troubleshoot. But if you rely on AI before learning the basics, do you really know what you’re doing? 🤔 Without understanding the fundamentals, you might struggle when it’s time to adapt, debug, or fully grasp what’s happening behind the scenes of AI-generated solutions. Here’s why the fundamentals matter: ⁉️ Understanding Errors - AI might fix your mistakes, but if you don’t know why something went wrong, it’s harder to avoid it next time. 🔍 Spotting AI Mistakes - AI isn’t perfect; it can suggest code that’s inefficient or even incorrect. With a strong foundation, you’ll be able to catch these errors before they create bigger problems. 💡 Problem-Solving Skills - Learning hands-on without shortcuts helps you develop critical thinking skills. When you understand how to solve a problem yourself, AI becomes a partner—not a crutch. 🚀 AI can be a great resource in learning, but it should be used as a tool to amplify your understanding—not replace it. Build your basics first, and you’ll be able to make the most of AI later. 💬 Have you used AI to help you learn new technical skills? Share your experience in the comments! ♻️ Share with someone using AI on their learning journey. ➕ Follow for more tips on how to stand out in a crowded market. #AI #Tech #Learning #Data #Analytics #Careers #PalmisInsights

AI Isn't Just a Shortcut—It's a Learning Accelerator. One of the biggest misconceptions about AI is that it's simply a tool to replicate or copy content. But the real value of AI goes much deeper. It’s not about cutting corners, it’s about accelerating how we learn and what we can create. Here’s what AI can do for you: 1️⃣ Extract Patterns: AI analyzes work—whether text, audio, or video—to identify key techniques, frameworks, and structures. 2️⃣ Create Templates: It turns those patterns into reusable templates, allowing you to replicate successful approaches faster and more efficiently. 3️⃣ Speed Up Learning: These templates allow you to scale your learning by building upon proven methods and applying them to your work. But here’s the kicker: AI isn’t replacing creativity. It’s enhancing it. To truly stand out, you still need your unique perspectives, creative insights, and personal points of view. AI provides the tools, but human ingenuity adds the magic. Whether crafting content, designing strategies, or solving complex problems, the combination of AI-powered insights and human creativity drives real innovation.

A few years ago, I was navigating traditional #workflows, solving problems the "usual" way, and wondering how to make a bigger impact. Then came the opportunity to learn #ArtificialIntelligence (#AI) and #MachineLearning (#ML) through a company-upskilling program. At first, it felt overwhelming. I had no coding experience, and concepts like #algorithms and #predictivemodels seemed intimidating. But I took the leap and it changed everything. Starting with the basics, I learned to build predictive models, automate processes, and optimize systems. My first success? Developing a model to forecast inventory needs, which reduced stockouts and saved significant costs. Fast forward to today, I lead AI-driven initiatives, mentor colleagues, and collaborate on cutting-edge projects. AI/ML didn't just enhance my skills; it changed how I approach challenges and innovate solutions. To anyone considering learning AI/ML: Start small, stay curious, and apply your skills to real-world problems. The future is full of possibilities—take the leap! Read the full blog to learn how organizations and individuals are leveraging AI/ML training for success. Your next big leap might just start with learning. https://lnkd.in/gYcCsJ_K #AI #MachineLearning #ArtificialIntelligence #TechTraining #WorkplaceInnovation #FutureOfWork #DigitalTransformation #Upskilling #CareerGrowth #Leadership #BusinessInnovation #AITraining #MLTraining #EmployeeDevelopment #TechCareers #AIInBusiness #MachineLearningApplications #AIForGood #Automation #DataScience #ProfessionalDevelopment #AIAdoption #TechnologyTrends #SkillDevelopment #InnovationLeadership #AIUpskilling #DigitalSkills #LearningAndDevelopment #AIIntegration #TechBlog #hiring #CareerSuccess

Today's LLM is almost by definition a bit "overfit" as it essentially averages everything it has been trained on to give the most likely "next text" token (given prompt input). When LLM's use a half trillion nodes it's likely memorizing more than generalizing (MS next model has 500 Billion nodes!?). Seems smart because of the ability to tune its prediction based on the internal "attention" paid to the previous prompt/context text and it's vast web of internal nodes, but it's not rationalizing. It's not innovating. It's not really perceiving. It's not looking at the future and figuring out likely text for new domains and contexts that it hasn't been trained on yet. While there can be happy synchronicity when prompted about an unknown domain that happens to have concepts in common with a trained one, there can also be massive hallucination (with no built-in discernment). Like some people I guess :)

The golden hammer adage holds important lessons for AI, machine learning, and human learning as well. The saying? If your only tool is a hammer, you tend treat everything as if it’s a nail. One can easily become over-reliant on solutions that have worked very well for their purpose and context at that time but don’t allow us to generalize and adapt to broader sets of challenges, scenarios, and changes. Yesterday’s stategic adaptation left unexamined could harden into tomorrow’s maladaption. In AI, “overfit” implies that the model is fitting the data too much, to the point where this overattunement renders it unable to flex and accrurately generalize to new data sets—thus proving under-equipped. It may also misinterpret and misrepresent noise as signal within its training data and outputs. This is where the importance of training upon real-world diverse data and evidence can come into play, representing more realistic and representative variety and potential patterns. It’s similar to the way that professional specializations can create a barrier to cross-discipline and cross-domain considerations: the once golden-hammer may no longer be enough for the job—beyond the nail set—and this may also be hard to recognize. In human psychology, it’s also known as the “Einstellung effect” where a person's pre-existing mental habits or solutions based on certain problem sets can prime and shape an approach to such an extent that it can be a barrier to finding a a more relevant and effective solution to a problem. And these are simply common human traits related to how our mentral structures tend to form and can lock into place in the absence of more objective measures, and perspectives: the real-world training data that expands the mindset, skillset, and the toolbox. #AI is reducing the value of these skills: 🔻 Statistical analysis 🔻 Machine Learning 🔻 Data Manipulation 🔻 Programming Does that mean that these skills are unimportant? No. It just means that AI is lowering the barrier to entry for these skills. Simply put, if a skill is easier to obtain, the skill's supply increases. When supply goes up, the value of the skill goes down. But that's OK. This is why... AI is increasing the value of these skills: 🟢 Generative AI (The ability to build with AI) 🟢 Web Applications (The ability to take AI into production) 🟢 Domain Knowledge, Strategic Thinking, Problem Solving and Project Management These skills have become 10X more powerful because companies don't have people who know how to use them together to build useful cost reducing or revenue increasing AI products. Remember-- Those who can reduce costs and increase revenue will always be valued. Profit is what companies care about. And because of that, companies recognize the need for AI. They just have no clue how to make it a reality. - Matt Dancho
