Had an incredible experience at the Bluesound panel yesterday. Phil Sant, Sania Haq, Matt Simmonds Mike Jbara and I tackled some of the most pressing issues in music today. In a world where the music industry is competing with gaming, social media, podcasts, and more, it’s time we faced the reality of where music consumption really fits into the modern attention economy. Streaming platforms initially won us over with convenience, but that very convenience has stripped away some of the deep emotional connection that music used to provide. The days of flipping through liner notes and experiencing an album from start to finish feel distant. Today, we find ourselves in algorithm-driven echo chambers, where listeners are repeatedly served what they already know, rarely venturing into the unknown. It’s time for a shift. How do we make music feel meaningful again? How do we reintroduce serendipity, discovery, and excitement into the mix? It starts by not just giving listeners what they want but by offering what they didn’t even know they needed. Exciting times ahead—I’ll be sharing more insights from the panel soon. What about you? What would make you feel more connected to the music you love? Happy #TechThrowbackThursday! Today, we’re rewinding to 1982, when the Compact Disc (CD) hit the market and forever changed how we store and listen to music. 💿🎶 Before the CD’s digital revolution, vinyl records and cassette tapes dominated the music scene. But with the introduction of this new format, listeners could enjoy higher-quality audio, and artists could store more music on a single disc. The CD not only reshaped the music industry but also laid the groundwork for digital storage innovations we use today. Fast forward to today, and while streaming services may have largely replaced CDs, their influence lives on in how we manage digital media and data storage. This shift from physical to digital forms of media set the stage for many of the technological advancements we enjoy now. At ITCubed, we know that understanding technological evolution is key to driving innovation. By keeping pace with change, we help businesses navigate today’s digital landscape with smart IT solutions that increase efficiency and reduce costs. #ITCubed #TechThrowback #CDEvolution

I was reminded this week of the similarity between the journey of #networkandsecurityconvergence and the development in technologies for listening to music. The icons adorning #REM's career spanning retrospective capture it perfectly: - Cassette tapes, like leased lines and routers, unwieldy and only useful until they break. - Singles, like MPLS, limited in use and disproportionately costly in the market. - LP’s, like SD-WAN, delivering great benefit and still the foundation for next-gen solutions. - CD’s, like SSE, variable use for specific circumstances. - Streaming, like SASE, cloud-based including many features (e.g. the audiophile’s SD-WAN). I guess the conclusion is, much like the vinyl racks that are again full of artists to choose from, both SD-WAN and the LP are here for the long-term, very much a part of the user's overall experience.
