Queen Rania of #Jordan: ‘This is a man-made, an Israeli-made disaster’. March 12, 2024. https://lnkd.in/e6Tiemfk
In a lengthy interview with CNN’s International Chief Correspondent Christine Amanpour on Monday, Queen Rania of Jordan addressed the war on #Gaza and the humanitarian disaster the Israeli offensive has created.
She emphasized that “we’re passed the stage of trying to talk Israel into doing these things, we need to actually start using measures and political leverage to get them to do those things”.

Israeli 🇮🇱 Minister of Diaspora @AmichaiChikli on Jordan:
🇯🇴 Established on 70% of the Mandatory Palestine land
🇯🇴 90% its citizens are Palestinians
🇯🇴 The Queen is a Hamas-supporting Palestinian
🇯🇴 Its population supports the October 7 massacre
Why so they don't move all the palestinians there, all of them, and build a wall like the Egyptian border to keep them there??
The problem is:
● Almost half or more of Jordan are Bedouin tribes
● The Bedouin and the Palestinian will never agree
● The Palestinian are not a Canaanite Arab and is not a pure race. They are a mixture of Roma, Armenians, Mongols, and foundlings of the Roman armies.
● The Palestinian hates the Bedouins, who are Arabs by blood.

Let's discuss further
Queen Rania of Jordan, her words on Israel, Palestine, and Peace- excellently articulated substance, brilliantly delivered. She also makes a simple reference to words of her father in law - "the other persons shoes" - which resonated with me immediately as I reminisced about my own, attorney at law father's, oft quoted remark "always be conscious of the other person's perspective" -which became a guiding philosophy in my personal and professional career.
The tragic implications of turning the other side-
Israel and Gaza, that tragic incursion 7 months ago, on October 7, 2023, perhaps one waiting to happen due to a world that failed to identify, empathise and intervene into a decades old and neglected issue; the even more tragic retaliation that followed, forcing us to witness unprecedented atrocity towards humanity.
All this, shockingly, amidst a world that speaks like one, about climate consciousness, but sadly, a heartless, helpless world that I thought intelligent naturally, and now additionally empowered artificially. A world of countries, of strong economies, groupings of clubs of countries, global institutions, institutions set up for the very purpose of intervention, mediation and peacekeeping, international courts that were established to administer justice, ones set up to distinguish between what was or is criminal or not, all proving to have little or no clout, even temporarily, to contain, restrain or halt and cease fire on what was wrong, unjust, unfair, inhuman or criminal.
In the early hours of this Sri Lankan morning- the 9th of May, 2024, as I, by chance happened upon this interview of Queen Rania, I could not pause watching it. Words simply flowed as I penned these thoughts. More so because I have from the beginning of this 2023 Palestine, Israel Gaza conflict, taken a stand, and posted my thoughts on Linkedin, questioning the stance and comments of Western leaders, particularly in the US & UK and of women- former Presidential candidates, or Potential ones, mothers and many others, who showed no empathy, but in fact who spoke against a ceasefire while their countries, defended, supported, financed or contributed to the heartless retaliation.
But Queen Rania- here's a woman with her head and heart in the right place, and a woman who has the knowledge, the courage, the capacity, the poise and posture to say it, and say it, the way it should be said.
I am indeed inspired by her, and thought I should take the liberty to share, what she says, together with my brief comments, with my Linkedin community and with the many others who have debated with me on this, including classmates, but many more like minded friends, former work and professional colleagues world over, who identified, empathised supported and defended my position on this, regardless of race or religion, of nationality or pursuasion.
I pray in my own way, for better sense to prevail and prevail immediately.

I believed the lies I was told about the Israelis.
And when I visited Israel, I was shocked.
Every Lebanese and Syrian would dream of the standard of living offered to every ethnicity and religious group alike.
The Arabs suffering in Gaza and under the rule of the PA suffer because of their leaders who depict the Israelis as monsters and eternal enemies. They suffer because of a political deadlock created by those glorifying martyrdom, and opting for violence instead of diplomacy.
And many Palestinian Arabs know this. I met some of them in Israel after they escaped their communities due to domestic violence, political disagreements or their sexual orientation. They know how they were treated on both sides of the border.
If in doubt, visit Israel. Or at least believe those who have been there, not those who never spoke to an Israeli or a Jew.

Home is where the heart is.
We can’t change the past, but we must find a way for all of us to peacefully and prosperously live on this planet Earth that all of us call home. There is no place else to go, at least not yet.
Unfortunately, history is replete with examples of intolerance, discrimination, invasions, wars, subjugation, slavery, and genocides perpetrated by people all over the world on their own people, on their neighbors, and on populations far away for many reasons including but not limited to religion, race, politics, mercantilism, colonialism, globalism and what not, with the underlying cause being greed for wealth and power.
As a result, many indigenous cultures across the continents have been wiped out and their populations decimated, with very few, including those of Jewish and Sanatan (Hindu/Jain/Sikh/Buddhist) faiths managing to hold on to their ancient traditions, culture and beliefs.
But all this is and should be in the past. Let’s take all the good from the past, including lessons, and jettison the rest.
Hating each other for the actions of our ancestors, carrying historical baggage, and
continuing historical enemities will only compound the miseries that humanity faces and lead us down a path of major conflagration that can annihilate large swathes of human populations.
We have the collective intelligence and ability to cooperate, collaborate and create a paradise on earth, and also to create hell on earth with the hellfire that we collectively possess in each of our nation’s arsenals. Our collective consciousness can take us in either direction.
If each of us individually, if each our communities, if each of our countries honestly introspect our own beliefs and past/proposed actions with an unyielding intention of building bridges, making peace, and coexisting, we will find a lot that we can do to win over others’ hearts and minds, and thereby usher in a peaceful and plentiful era.
On the other hand, if we rigidly and ardently hang on to the beliefs and hurts of the past, and choose to only see the negative in others and not the good in them, and see ourselves only as good people, without introspecting how we can be better, and how our actions could negatively affect others, then we will never see eye to eye, never see the others as humans, and will never be able to make the compromises necessary to coexist peacefully.
Coexistence does not necessarily have to mean that we live on top of each other in the same communities. It should at least be an ability to live as peaceful and good neighbors with good fences.
The only sins that we should be accountable for are those that we commit ourselves today, and we aught to pay a price for it.
No matter what the sins of our ancestors were, everybody today deserves a peaceful country that they can call home… and this especially applies to the populations that were historically subjugated, enslaved, invaded and genocided.
Our only home is planet Earth. Let’s coexist!

When Jews lived outside of Israel, the locals always called them Jews,
not Iraqis or Yemenis or Syrians or Egyptians or Lebanese, but the Jews (yahood).
Now, when Jews returned to the land of their ancestors after 2000 years of exile,
They want us to go back to the countries we came from...
The Jews came from Judea,
The Arabs came from Arabia,
And the Palestinians are something new,
Does anyone know a Palestinian leader before Yasser Arafat?

Historical fact about #Palestine#Israel 👇
#arabs didn’t lose Palestine to Israel in 1948. The #Ottoman Empire lost it to the #British in 1917. British empire brought in #european#jews basically & settled them in Palestine. Imagine that the USA or Mexico or South American countries would allow local tribes and indigenous people now in the North and South American continents to reclaim their old lands!
Israel was awarded part of it by the #UN in 1947 when the British abandoned it & Islamic countries were all virtually colonies of european powers & had no say at the #unitednations. Israel started occupying more and more Palestinian land in 1948 with support of British, French and #USA and became a regional powerhouse.
Israel occupied further lands in 1967 when it attacked, and #jordan was forced to abandon its land in #WestBank.
The story is that basically european powers and the USA have used the weakness of Islamic countries to force the domination of Israel in the #middleeast.
