Heim’s and GES’s Safety Committee, comprised of personnel from each of our various departments, is the backbone of our safety practices. Josh Eroh, a Process Engineer at GES, shares his most impactful moment since joining the team:
“If I had to choose just one moment, it would be seeing the response to a recent employee back strain.
It was very meaningful to be a part of the lengthy discussion in which we uncovered its root cause and understood the circumstances in which [the injury] occurred---even getting feedback from those who had previously worked in the environment, and having a realistic discussion on how to prevent it in the future.
It was impressive to see how dutifully the issue treated---regardless of its severity. The event actually led to the purchase of heavy-lifting assistance equipment for everyone---minimizing risk of injury recurrence.
We really do take these things seriously, and our team always emphasizes the importance of making small corrections that will lead to a safer workplace over time.
The care put into coming up with a solution that doesn’t just check the box of, “We tried,” on paper, but actually is useful and successful at preventing future injury is something to be admired. “
